CISP is involved in development projects implemented in Ethiopia through reliability, sustainable and effective organization committed to reduce social vulnerability and building resilience.

Project Summary

“The project entitled “Multi-Sectoral Intervention Support to South Sudanese Refugees and Host Communities in Benishangul Gumuz and Gambella Regional States, Ethiopia (SURE)” will be implemented in Sherkole and Tsore refugee camps and host communities around the camps. The project aimed at to improve the living condition of South Sudanese refugees and host communities through integrated environmental protection, livelihood diversification, vulnerable group protection and empowerment and access to basic services such as education WASH and health sectoral interventions. The project is implementing in consortium with CISP, VIS, CUAMM and Amref, and led by CISP for 21 months. As per the internal arrangement CISP is responsible for Benishangul while the other 3 for Gambella interventions.

 Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall managing and leading the projects implementing by CISP in Assosa in and outside the camps, particularly the project entitled Multi-Sectoral Intervention Support to South Sudanese Refugees and Host Communities in Benishangul Gumuz and Gambella Regional States, Ethiopia (SURE)“”,
  • Ensure activities are implemented according to plans and budgets, donor requirements and that activities are executed in line with acceptable quality standards in ways that are responsive to communities’ needs
  • Integrate community approach, gender sensitivity, and capacity building into all activities as appropriate
  • Coordinate/facilitate and manage the day-to-day implementation of CISP’s SURE project activities both in and out of the camps;
  • Ensure that project development and implementation are responsive to communities and partners and consistent with CISP’s relevant program guidelines, principles, values, quality standards and strategic plan.
  • Closely work with partner staffs, UNHHCR, ARRA, target beneficiary representatives, and the local government in setting out clear and transparent targeting criteria; and ensure they are clearly communicated to target communities and stakeholders;
  • Participate in regional, zonal, district and camp level coordination forums, meetings, networks, and ensure CISP operations are aligned and coordinated with similar efforts of the consortium partners, the government and other humanitarian and development actors;
  • Ensure feedbacks from target communities and stakeholders are regularly collected, documented and timely responded;
  • Provide update on project implementation status to CISP program manager, and SURE management team,
  • Regularly monitor potential risks, and implementation challenges and, together with all project staffs and consortium members work and other partners towards proactively seeking solutions;
  • Promote experience sharing and cross-learning among the SURE partners;
  • Develop partners’ MoUs, contracts, ToRs, partnership frameworks as required for the implementation,
  • In collaboration of other relevant officers/experts responsible for compiling monthly, quarterly and terminal reports and action plans of the project as per the government and donor formats and submit to stakeholders including the CISP head office;
  • Detailed project planning and monitoring.
  • Taking part in developing various assessments tools, conducting the assessments, analysis, recording and reporting the findings of the assessment to facilitate learning, implementing monitoring and evaluation of the project contributions;
  • Monitoring project progress and performance.
  • Identify, manage and sometime facilitate technical training for government partners, project beneficiaries and project staff.
  • Liaison with, and updates progress to, project stakeholders and senior management.
  • Managing project evaluation and dissemination outcomes.
  • Participate in data collection, concept note and proposal preparation for future development;
  • Perform other additional duties as per the directives of the country office.

 Partnership and Representation

  • Represent CISP at regional, zonal, and district GO-NGO forums; UNHCR/ARRA task force meetings; sectorial coordination meeting; and other relevant engagements and update the rest of the team on the outcomes of such meetings;
  • Promote and maintain good partnership with stakeholders (target communities, private sector, government, ARRA, UNHCR, and other humanitarian actors) in the spirit of respect, equity, transparency and complementarity;
  • Work closely with the concerned government partners for activities implemented outside the camp (in host communities) and with UNCHR/ARRA for day to day implementation of the project activities and implementation modalities in the camps.

 Budget Management

  • Ensure adherence to donor guidelines, CISP internal control procedures as well as CISP financial management guidelines in the course of the utilization and management of organization resources;
  • Ensure resources are used only for the intended purpose with maximum possible efficiency;
  • Manage and regularly monitor budget utilization status of the CISP’s SURE project; and make sure prior authorization is secured from respective CISP and donor officials in the case of over and under expenditures,

Length of Contract: One Year with possible extension

Requirements

  • Relevant B.Sc./M.Sc. degree in WASH,  Environmental Science, Livelihood, Public Health, Refugee Studies or other related fields from recognized universities,
  • Minimum of 7 years work experience for B.Sc. or 5 years for M.Sc. holders, with a thorough understanding of all areas of project management cycles in development and humanitarian settings.

 Competencies/Technical Skills:

  • Good knowledge of Software components PHAST, CBHFA, CLTSH and capacity to train others in this field
  • Track record of successful work experience and results in project management in NGOs setting,
  • Experience of project operation in refugee settings,
  • Result oriented and team player,
  • Knowledge and understanding of WASH sector policies and standards,
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office, MS Project,
  • Proficiency of English and Amharic,

The International Committee for the Development of Peoples (CISP) is a nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1983 with headquarters in Rome, Italy . The principles and purposes of the organization are summarized in the Declaration of Intent and the Code of Conduct for cooperation programs . The Statement of Purpose "For the Rights and against Poverty: Approaches and Operational Priorities CISP", developed with input from all players in the See of Rome and offices in third countries, defines the priorities of the CISP, built around the main objectives of combating poverty and social exclusion .

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND PRIORITY AREAS FOR ACTION

In collaboration with various local stakeholders, public and private, CISP has realized and realizes projects of humanitarian aid , rehabilitation and development in more than 30 countries of : Africa, Latin America, Middle East, Asia and Eastern Europe , while in countries of ' European Union promotes initiatives of cultural policy , the promotion of international solidarity and enhancing the role of diasporas in the development of their countries.

The Statement of Purpose identifies as priority areas :

a) the right to social security and economic as the development of income opportunities, migration, development and food security; b) the right to health , access to water and environmental sanitation ; c) the right to the future understood as the rights of children , adolescents , young people and enhancing the environment and natural resources ; d) the right to humanitarian assistance that emergency and first reconstruction; e) the support to public policies for social cohesion and civil society .

The CISP projects are designed not only to meet the priority needs and solve real problems in the country and in the action, but also as tools to identify, formulate and consolidate specific sectoral policies . Two interrelated purposes, because the possibility that an inspiring project or strengthens a policy address depends on its impact, the effectiveness and the credibility of those who carry it out. In this in 1997 , CISP has been the Co-operation and Development Network (CDN) of Pavia, in collaboration with the University of Pavia, the School of Pavia IUSS and two other NGOs.

The CISP processes and produces publications and audio-visual material and promotes opportunities for meetings and investigation to disclose and inform public opinion, the experience of cooperation more meaningful.

FUNDING AND RESOURCES

The CISP projects make use of funding and contributions from private individuals , associations, foundations, companies and Italian public institutions and international. Among the latter: the European Union , Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Italian local authorities, agencies, UN , governmental agencies of countries' Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ( OECD ), national governments and local authorities in the countries in which it operates.

CISP, already formal approval under the Act 26 February 1987, n. 49 and considered a non-profit social organization (NPO) in accordance with art. 10, paragraph 8, of Legislative Decree 4 December 1997, n. 460, is also enrolled in the registry office of NPO of the Lazio Region (NGO sector activities).

CISP is part of the ' Directory of Civil Society Organizations and other subjects not-for-profit Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (Decree n. 2016/337/00161/4).

It is recognized Association (N ° 752/2010 of the Register of Legal Persons at the Prefecture of Rome), also registered in the Register of entities and associations operating in favor of immigrants at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (A / 138 / 2001 / RM).
