Description:
The Project Director will provide leadership and oversight of the implementation of interventions of an anticipated United States Government (USG) project focused on addressing critical gaps in the response to COVID 19 in Ethiopia. S/he will provide technical and programmatic leadership to staff based in provincial offices to ensure proper planning, coordination, execution and management of project activities, and to facilitate seamless planning, implementation and technical support in the provinces and districts, including effective private sector and community engagement. It is anticipated that the position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and will report to the Country Director. Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project and the selection of the final applicant is subject to USG approval.

Job Summary/Responsibilities

·         Lead the design, development, planning, and coordination of project activities at provincial and district levels, including activities to be performed by private sector and community partners.

·         Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop strategies and tools for the design and implementation of private sector and community interventions, and to ensure tool compatibility and consistency with national and donor requirements

·         Collaborate with and oversee sub-grantees to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate intervention, analyze data reported, provide feedback on project performance and develop strategies for program improvements to ensure alignment with national and donor requirements.

·         Support planning and activities of technical team, implement, monitor and evaluate intervention, analyze data reported, provide feedback on project performance and develop strategies for program improvements

·         Support the publication and dissemination of information on successful and promising approaches, lessons learned and other program results to key stakeholders, including the Government of Ethiopia, USAID and other partners.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

·         Medical degree and at least Master’s degree in public health, social science, economics, or relevant discipline.

·         At least 5 years at national level or 7 years of experience at provincial level.

·         Experience in implementation of USG-funded projects advantageous

·         Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to articulate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences

·         Excellent report writing, analytical, and communication skills, including oral presentation skills

·         Fluency in English.
