Project Description
HealthRight is implementing two Maternal neonatal and Child Health projects in Nairobi namely M-Sawazisha and Imarisha Heshima (Respectable Maternity Care) Projects. The M-Sawazisha project focuses on Integrating Mobile Technology in Maternal, Newborn and Child health care to bridge inequalities in Informal Settlements in Nairobi. The goal of the RMC project is to ensure a dignified birthing process for women in five selected high-volume health facilities located in Nairobi’s informal settlements.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties/Tasks
On a typical day, your responsibilities will include:
Project implementation
- Ensure high quality management of all the project cycle activities in accordance with plans and budgets approved by the donor and HealthRight International.
- Lead and manage the implementation of the urban Maternal Newborn Health projects as per the National MoH Policies and manage projects budget.
- Manage the processes of incorporating Rights-Based Approach (RBA) to care in the urban Maternal Newborn projects in Nairobi.
- Lead in the monitoring and operation of the mobile health innovations component within the Urban Projects.
- Oversee stakeholder collaboration between the MoH, CHVs, and partners
- Coordinate trainings, supervision and mentorship to SCHMT and facility staff.
2. Monitoring and Evaluation
- Facilitate surveys using participatory approaches to map project sites and reach out to beneficiaries in collaboration with the M&E officer.
- Manage documentation of project best practices and lessons learned for both internal and external use.
- Prepare periodic progress reports and annual reports showing achievements against planned targets as well as providing justification for performance variances and areas of improvement in collaboration with the M&E officer.
- Facilitate Quarterly Data Quality Audits for the Project in collaboration with the M&E officer.
3. Finance and Grants Management
- Operationalize project budgets and grants monitoring tools to ensure adequate controls for efficient funds utilizations in line with HealthRight Finance Policies.
- Manage project budgets to ensure compliance with donor and HealthRight requirements.
- Team Management
Manage project staff and help build a high performing team.
5. Partnership Management and Collaboration
- Strengthen collaborative partnerships and networks key stakeholders, county government agencies and other players to ensure implementation of the project.
- Represent HealthRight at meetings, conferences and workshops and other forums to promote and articulate issues related to Maternal Newborn, Sexual Reproductive Health Programming.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent qualifications such as Clinical medicine degree, public health or a related field.
· Seven (7) years’ experience in planning, implementing and evaluating RMNCAH/FP Projects
· Demonstrated experience in project management experience, preferably in an NGO setting.
· Track record of managing project staff and budgets in a fast-paced environment.
· Experience in managing the production of excellent project report for internal and external audience.
· Experience with m-health technology highly desired.

· Good grant writing, report and research protocol writing skills
· Ability to develop and manage a project budget Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel applications.
