Starting Date: 1st February 2020

Main objective: To manage a 3-years project financed by EU in renewable energy sector (home solar system and cooking stove) according to the donor rules and AVSI procedures, in order to achieve the specific objectives of the project.

Reporting to: Country Representative (1st Supervisor), Regional Manager (2nd Supervisor)

Specific duties:

  • To properly manage the consortium with another INGO and local partners/providers (AVSI is leader of the consortium)
  • To plan, coordinate and supervise all activities of the project
  • To be responsible for the activities related to the AVSI project (mainly nutrition)
  • Carry out regular field visits (field monitoring, evaluations, reporting, etc.)
  • Ensure regular update of the project planning and tasks based on monitoring and reporting
  • Keep good relationships with the donor and all relevant stakeholders in the area and include them at the various stage of implementation
  • Train staff in accurate recording, compilation, analysis and reporting procedures
  • Ensure accurate data collection and analysis
  • Provide direction and mentoring to the field team in the development of plans and implementation of activities
  • Represent AVSI Burundi at Province-level coordination meetings (Clusters, Working Groups) and share with the supervisors the main points of the discussions
  • Work in close collaboration with both locals Operations and support units

Essential Requirement:

  • University degree in Economy, Engineer, Agriculture or Social Sciences;
  • 5 years of professional experience in project management for interventions in energy or rural development
  • Previous experience in UE project’s management
  • Previous experience working with international and local partners
  • Excellent knowledge of Office packet
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Previous experience in Burundi an asset

  • Strong internal and external coordination and representation skills
  • Strong capacity to work under-pressure
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Experience in emergency projects
  • Experience in M&E (also using ICT) and analysis of vulnerability
  • Strong communication skills and cross cultural sensitivity
  • Willingness to travel within the country
