John Snow, Inc. (JSI) R & T seeks to recruit Temporary Project Officer for its Data Use Partnership (DUP) Project. The goal of the project is to improve collection and use of high quality routine information; improve the quality, efficiency and availability of primary health, and nutrition services at all levels of the Ethiopian health system. JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) is a public health management consulting and research organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world.

Summary of Responsibilities

Ethiopia – Data Use Partnership (DUP) plans to launch an internship program for new Information Technology or Health Informatics graduates beginning from October 2009. In this regard, DUP plans to deploy about 150 to 200 interns all over the country. Hence, DUP seeks to hire a competent project officer in temporary basis to handle the recruitment, onboarding, deployment and smooth exits of the interns. This position holder reports to the Human Resources Administrator.

     Specific Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the recruitment of the new graduates for the internship program in collaboration with the Human Resources Administrator.
  • Coordinate the pre-service training of the interns before their deployment.
  • Manage the proper deployment of the interns in all parts of the country.
  • Facilitate the monthly stipend payment for the interns.
  • Facilitate travel expenses reimbursement and other logistics arrangements.
  • Facilitate procurement of laptop computers and other office supplies.
  • Coordinate work relationships of the interns with the regional health offices and regional DUP staffs.
  • Facilitate planning, reporting, and monitoring of the activities in collaboration with the other DUP staffs and the respective government health offices at different levels.
  • Ensure safety and security of the interns.
  • Ensure the interns have adequate work exposure and capacity building opportunities that prepares them for future professional career.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Advanced degree (Masters level) in Management, Business Administration, Project management and related areas

Experience

  • Minimum of five years professional experience
  • Experience in operations, logistics and finance management and coordination
  • Experience in program coordination or program assistance related work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and Google products (Drive, Gmail, Docs)
  • Good interpersonal communications skill and team work
  • Females are encouraged to apply

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Amharic;
