ABOUT CIAI

CIAI, Italian Association for Aid to Children (CIAI) is an Italian NGO established in Italy in 1968. It has been recognized as non-profit organization in 1981 (by Decree of the President of the Italian Republic N. 899), and as Italian NGO on August 2nd 2000 (by Decree of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs n. 2000/337/0035875). In Ethiopia CIAI has been first registered in 2003, and has been re-registered under the Agency for CSOs n°1123 of May 14th 2019 (Civil Society Organizations Proclamation n°1113/2019). Since its recognition in Ethiopia, CIAI has been closely working with governmental and non-governmental partners in order to upgrade their capacities to foster the wellbeing of vulnerable and disadvantaged children. In its projects CIAI strives to guarantee the access to quality education and protection services through direct support to children, families, communities and local authorities. CIAI always works in close relation with communities and local authorities to foster ownership and create a sustainable safe and conducive environment for children in the Country. CIAI is currently working in Addis Ababa, Tigray Regional State, Oromia Regional State and Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Regional State.

CIAI ​​is a Child safe organization and is committed to the safeguarding and protection of children. The selected candidate will be asked to adhere to CIAI standards and principles, and sign the CIAI Child Safeguarding, the Protection Policy and related documents, providing in advance also his/her job references, letter of interest, updated CV and criminal record.

JOB SUMMARY

S/He is in charge of the coordination, organization and management of all project related activities. S/He supervises the financial component in coordination with the finance and administrative manager at CIAI Addis Ababa Head Quarter. S/He manages the human resources involved in the projects under his/her responsibility, also contributing to their continuous and progressive training. S/He organizes the project’s monitoring and evaluation, learning and accountability activities (MEAL), in coordination with the MEAL appointed focal point. S/He guarantees the correct drafting of reports, both for the local authorities, for CIAI and for the donor. S/He maintains a steady and appropriate communication between the different levels of responsibility, both at the country level and with the Italian headquarter. S/He is responsible for drafting concept notes and project proposals in coordination with the country and Italian offices. S/He actively participates to the collection of materials and data concerning the official communication of CIAI’s component, in coordination with the Italian headquarter.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • S/He prepares the materials and manages the trainings on:
    • Gender, Right to Health and Child Participation;
    • Positive Discipline;
    • Participatory Evaluation of Child Clubs & PSTA;
    • School Child Clubs Management;
  • S/He trains the project staff on Participatory Community Animation Techniques;
  • S/He participates in the planning and organization of awareness events;
  • S/He supervises, together with the project staff, the organization and preparation of materials for the community awareness, in coordination with CIAI Communication Office in Addis and Milan;
  • S/He coordinates the CIAI logistic components with the Consortium Partners’ logistics referent;
  • S/He coordinates the M.I.S. (Management of the Information System), and monitors the progresses in achieving the project indicators (M.E.A.L.) by supervising the correct implementation of the data flow plan;
  • S/He finalizes the monthly, quarterly and yearly narrative reports by organizing the field progress reports compiled by the field worker (Community Animator);
  • S/He is responsible for managing the assets and the general resources under the project;
  • S/He is responsible for the management of the Human Resources under the project;
  • S/He is responsible for the management of the budget according to project activities, for the correct project spending and for the accurate financial reporting, including the request for bank transfers, in coordination with the Addis Ababa offices,
  • S/He is responsible for the primary and secondary data collection activities, both under the project or in addition to it, in coordination with the Addis Ababa offices;
  • S/He contributes and collaborates to the institutional communication component of CIAI, both for the project purpose and general, in coordination with the country level office and with the Italian headquarter;
  •  Whenever required, S/He collaborates to the drafting of concept notes and project proposals, in coordination with the country and Italian offices

Staff under supervision:  Community Animator

Terms of office: 36 months

Job Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Academic Qualification :  Master or relevant degree in Social Sciences, Sociology, Psychology or related disciplines;

Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years of proven relevant experience in the development sector;

Desirable Trainings:

  • On job trainings related to his/her assignment;

Required Skills:

  • Interpersonal Relationship, Precision/accuracy on details;
  • Ability to work both with an international team and independently;
  • Knowledge of Amharic language. Working knowledge of English written and spoken. Knowledge of any other local language is considered a plus;
  • Ability to work in remote areas and in difficult conditions;
  • Good Knowledge of IT tools
