About the position
The Project Officer – Livelihoods will be responsible for project implementation of field livelihood activities, mainly focusing upon farmer group capacity development in Rhino Camp refugee settlement. S/He will build the capacity of the farmer groups through trainings and field follow up. S/He will work closely with OPM and other actors in actively addressing farmer skills development, production, processing and marketing issues. The Project Officer Livelihoods also works closely with leadership structures of both refugees and host communities (Sub-county agricultural offices, Community development officers, LC, RWC, religious and traditional leaders) in regard to livelihoods. The Project Officer will ensure that activities are approved, implemented, monitored and reported according to agreed project plans.

Major responsibilities:
• Implements field activities and/or facilitates in implementation of livelihood component
• Work with refugee and host communities to select and train Community Field Assistants (CLA)
• Support CLAs to train selected groups on PAED, nutrition, natural resource management and business skills through mentoring and coaching.
• Organize trainings with farmer groups in production and marketing of selected enterprises
• Ensures field monitoring and reporting of the livelihood component to the Senior Project Officer.
• Implements activities as described in the project proposal based on ZOA’s country policy
• Report on the project progress on weekly basis
• Any other role assigned by the line manager

Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum 2 years professional work experience in livelihood humanitarian/ development work including in displacement setting
• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Development Studies, Social Sciences or any other related field.
• Knowledge of Participatory Agro-enterprise Development is an added advantage
• Proven analytical and strategic planning skills, high-level communication and people skills, and excellent writing ability.
• Competence in agro-business planning, development and profitability analysis
• Computer literate (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint)

Additional Requirements:
• Ability to work in a harsh working environment (Rhino Camp)
• Sensitivity towards emerging conflict in refugee settings (Rhino Camp)
• Good communication, writing, negotiation and facilitation skills
• Good computer skills: Ms Excel, Ms Word
• Self-motivator, having the ability to work with limited supervision
• Ability to work in an innovative environment where plans are developed fast and open for change
• Ability and skills to support activities where both refugee and host communities are involved
• Able to ride a motorcycle with a valid driving/riding license
• Preferably knowledge of Arabic or other relevant local languages
