IntraHealth International Tanzania Office is implementing a five-year project (2016 -2021) named Tohara Plus Project for “Accelerating the Scale- up of Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) for HIV prevention for Maximum Public Health Impact in the United Republic of Tanzania, under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)”. This project is funded by PEPFAR through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

IntraHealth International Tanzania office is soliciting applications from suitable candidate to fill in the Male Circumcision (MC) Quality Improvement Officer Position for IntraHealth Tohara Plus Project. The position will be based in Mwanza.

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Male Circumcision (MC) Quality Improvement Officer is required to provide assistance both programmatic and in clinical direction in implementation of Quality Improvement (QI) and Quality Assurance (QA) measures. He/she assists supported sites and CHMT to develop continuous VMMC quality improvement teams, implement quality improvement plans, report and documenting all quality improvement initiatives.

The MC Quality Improvement Officer reports to the MC Quality Improvement Advisor 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Under the guidance of the MC Quality Improvement Advisor, Provide technical support, mentoring and supervision to supported VMMC districts and ensuring quality improvement and quality assurance in delivering VMMC services.
  2. Contribute to the attainment of all project targets and milestones associated with the implementation of VMMC activities and ensuring National and PEPFAR/CDC country VMMC targets are met.
  3. Provide technical assistance and organize and deliver training, seminars/workshops on MC quality assurance tools and techniques.
  4. Ensure VMMC services follows: WHO, PERFAR/CDC, Government of Tanzania and IntraHealth protocols, policies and guidelines and are consistent with established best practices.
  5. Maintain regular communications with MOHCDGEC/NACP and undertake special assignments from the MOHCDGEC/NACP and other partners.
  6. Participate in preparing annual QI/QA work plans, budgets, performance reports and quarterly reports.
  7. Provide technical assistance and monitor MC quality assurance activities, and progress related to impact and sustainability of interventions.
  8. Report and document all quality improvement initiatives.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned 

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS    

  1. Advance Diploma in nursing or related field and clinical experience in Tanzania.
  2. Minimum three years’ experience working in HIV/AIDs programs desired.
  3. Experience in implementing quality improvement initiatives
  4. Experience in capacity building, such as planning and facilitating training, mentorship and providing technical assistance
  5. Working with local government officials and government health facilities desired.

 Other Requirements

  • Ability to work an irregular schedule on occasion with the ability to travel frequently and on short notice
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
