Overall Purpose of the Job

The Regional and Community Engagement Manager is responsible for managing, implementing and ensuring the quality of m2m Swaziland’s programme at facility and community level, management of facility and community-based staff, integration of community activities with facility-based activities. This position provides technical guidance to the m2m field staff. The position is based in the m2m Eswatini Country Office in Mbabane and reports to the Programs and Quality Improvement Manager.

This position will directly supervises Site Coordinators and reports to the program managers position.

 

Job Specifications

(Minimum education, qualifications, legal requirements, knowledge, languages, previous work experience, skills, on the job training and competencies required to perform the job)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public health, humanities, social sciences or nursing sciences
  • 5 years’ experience in health, community work and PMTCT/RMNCH service delivery
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant PMTCT protocols and policies in Swaziland

Competencies:

  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent organisational, communication and management skills
  • Well-developed presentation, facilitation and decision making skills
  • Sound financial and administration experience
  • Excellent report writing and editing abilities required
  • Dynamism, independence, creativity
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft packages)
  • Fluency in English and Siswati
  • Possession of own car and valid driver’s license desirable

Internal:

  • m2m Swaziland team
  • Key m2m HQ Technical staff

External:

  • Ministry of Health and other local partners implementing community programmes
  • USAID and other funders

Working conditions

(If applicable make mention of the fact that the incumbent will be required to travel locally and/or internationally, work regular overtime and/or during weekends, etc.)

 

 

  • Travel throughout the country will be required
  • Working over weekends/overtime may be required occasionally
  • International travel may be required

 

 

Description of Tasks / Key Performance  Areas

Programme Implementation 40%

  • Oversee the implementation of the m2m Swaziland community engagement strategy, in partnership with programme staff, country team  and head office DPTS representatives
  • Develop training plans for Site Coordinators, Mentor Mothers and Community Mentor Mothers
  • Promote the m2m program model within PMTCT, MNCH, and other thematic areas as per organizational developments in the regions/country.
  • Facilitate and actively participate in country quarterly reviews and conduct quarterly feedback sessions with site staff and make recommendations for programme improvement

 

Programme Quality Management and Support 30%

  • Compile weekly plans and report on week activities
  • Compile monthly site updates reports and submit to the PQM
  • Conduct regular site and community supportive supervisory visits through routine travel across the regions to ensure quality program implementation.
  • Work closely with M&E unit to ensure routine collection and analysis of m2m’s community engagement data to inform ongoing community programming

 

 

Establish, Coordinate and strengthen partnership at regional level and nationally as needed 5%

  • Establish and maintain relationships with partners at regional level

Human Resources 15%

  • Lead site human resource management issues and programme administration, in conjunction with the Programmes and Quality Improvement Manager.
  • Undertake performance appraisals for Site Coordinators and Mentor Mothers and facilitate and evaluate individual performance and training needs.

Initiatives 10%

  • Promote the m2m program model within PMTCT, MNCH, and other thematic areas as per organizational developments in the regions/country.
  • Provide ongoing support to SCs and CSCs  on ACFU

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public health, humanities, social sciences or nursing sciences
  • 5 years’ experience in health, community work and PMTCT/RMNCH service delivery
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant PMTCT protocols and policies in Swaziland
