NRC is looking for a Communications Adviser for Central and West Africa (CWA)
The Communications Adviser will produce content for NRC’s communication channels, provide communications and media support to the Country Offices (COs) and support a broad range of communication activities from Regional Office and Head Office.
The NRC Central and West Africa region is composed of country offices in Mali, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), North-east Nigeria, and in Cameroon.
The Central and West Africa Regional Office (CWARO) is overseeing the country programmes in the region, and provides strategic guidance across core programme, advocacy and support functions.
The Communications Adviser reports to the Head Of Advocacy.
Job descriptionBe the focal point for NRC Identity in the region;
Assist in developing and implementing the COs communications plans based on COs strategies and plans of action, in line with the Global Communication Strategy and the organisations overall communication targets. Monitor the impacts of the plans and adjust accordingly;
Initiate, produce and support the production of strong communications and media products, including press releases, articles, op-eds, photos, video and social media material;
Produce content as required for institutional donor visibility and reporting;
Promote, advocate and raise awareness around NRC activities, results and initiatives through a variety of communication vehicles;
Mentor, train and support NRC staff in the country on media and communications;
Support fundraising activities;
Support public advocacy activities;
Establish good working relations with communication counterparts in other organizations and the UN in country, with a view of doing joint communication work to amplify humanitarian issues.
QualificationsThree years’ work experience as a media/communications adviser– preferably related to development/humanitarian crises;
Experience in producing content for different target audiences;
Demonstrated ability to find new and creative media and communication angles on stories and pitches;
Experience in producing social media content;
Experience in producing photos and videos and in editing;
Field experience from complex emergencies is desirable;
Fluency in written and verbal English and French is essential

Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions and free housing of moderate standard
Level: Grade 8 in NRC grade structure
