World Vision Uganda is a Christian relief, development and advocacy non-government organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. We currently work in over 82 districts in Uganda implementing projects in health & nutrition, water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), livelihoods & community resilience, education and child protection. Position: Regional Engineer – Western Region

Report to: Regional Programs Manager

Location: Kiboga District

Purpose of the position:

To provide technical oversight to the Western Region building and construction works

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.

  • Oversee the technical implementation of UWASH Program activities in the Region
  • Supervise Engineering activities such as borehole/latrine construction; well rehabilitation; water source protection, Buildings including all processes from designs, specifications, BoQs, quotations and procurement through to implementation to impact of program in liaison with Procurement and Cluster Managers.
  • Supervise community mobilization teams to engage full participation of beneficiaries in designs, and maintenance of infrastructure construction activities as well as contributions of labour and materials where appropriate.
  • Network/partner with district officials/other stakeholders to ensure standards, regulations, procedures are adhered to.
  • Supervise contractors and assigned staff undertaking project implementation.
  • Develop Monitoring tools and undertake M&E function of Program activities/construction for quality assurance.
  • Give technical oversight/guidance and advise to Regional team concerning construction and engineering works in the Region
  • Facilitate design of community operation and maintenance of engineering plans of buildings/ infrastructure and be involved in trainings for such committees.
  • Data collection, accurate record keeping and management of information to measure progress and impact of program activities

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of previous experience in designs and Construction work supervision with development agency.
  • Computer literacy is needed
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Epanet, GPS mapping software is added advantage.
  • Good command of oral and written English is a must, local language skills are an asset. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Motorcycle riding /Driving skills are an asset.
  • Computer literate
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Attend and participate/lead in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.
  • Perform other duties as required
