The Global Teachers Institute (GTI) is a teacher development organisation dedicated to strengthening teacher capacity and the quality of schooling in South Africa and across the world by changing the way teachers are trained. GTI aims to empower student teachers, school leaders and educational organizations by offering a range of programs that refocus teacher training and professional development on the principles of classroom excellence, consciousness development, and social responsibility.
The Global Teachers Institute seeks to appoint a Regional Schools Co-ordinator to be based in Gauteng.
Reporting to the Head of Education
The Future Leaders Programme (FLP) is a teacher training programme that provides school-based training, mentoring, and professional development to pre-service and in-service teachers. The program seeks to develop a new generation of highly capable educators by immersing pre-service teachers full-time in schools. The programme also seeks to provide in-service teachers with experiences to improve their own teaching practice, instructional leadership skills, and mentoring abilities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead training sessions, delivering curriculum and report writing
- Academic support for intern-teachers based in schools
- Conduct weekly professional development workshops
- Conduct lesson observations
- School visits, meeting with mentor teachers and school principals
- Form relationships with mentors and school heads for support
- Be involved and drive the recruitment of new students
- Collecting and capturing monitoring and evaluation data
- Be involved in and drive the orientation process
- Assist with tracking and tracing Alumni
Qualifications and other requirements:
- Masters in Education or Bachelor of Education (Honours) (with evidence that the applicant is registered/studying towards a masters degree in Education).
- Minimum five years teaching experience as an intern teacher or an in-service teacher, with public school experience an advantage
- Additional experience in teacher development, school management or adult learning will be advantageous
- Strong administration skills, with ability to work independently and structure own time
- Ability to form meaningful relationships with a diverse of different people
- Ability to communicate effectively through writing and speaking
- Willing to navigate to GTI host schools (currently in Ga-Rankuwa, Alexandra, Diepsloot and Bedfordview) using their own car, or via public transportation (costs will be reimbursed for all work-related travel).

The successful candidate will be given a 12 month contract initially, with an option for renewal.
Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until an appointment is made. GTI also reserves the right to not make an appointment if no suitable candidate can be found.
