Position: Regional Strategic Information & Evaluation Officer

Location: Bulawayo

Reports to: Strategic Information & Evaluation Manager

Job Summary

The Regional Strategic Information and Evaluation (SI&E) Officer will work as a key member of the Strategic Information and Evaluation (SI&E) unit, under the leadership of the SIE Manager. He/She will provide backstopping and technical assistance to Gweru and Bulawayo district staff in program monitoring, including tool development, as well as data collection, management, analysis, and use for program improvement.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Provides technical backstopping support to district SIE staffs and partners in the collection, analysis, and use of program data for report generation and program improvement;
  • Review, validate, share and present regular FHI 360 SIE reports, to be used by various stakeholders (health workers in service delivery points, public health practitioners, technical officers and management in FHI 360).
  • Assist in strengthening the capacity of the FHI 360 district SIE Team, stay alert of the latest best practices in M&E to ensure up-to-date service delivery by the FHI 360 M&E Team.
  • Provides support to the SIE Manager in the design and implementation of program evaluation and operations research studies, as appropriate;
  • Participate in all QA/QI processes within FHI 360 Zimbabwe and among FHI 360’s Implementing Partners.
  • Supports development of M&E plans for DREAMS programs;
  • Supports in the development and implementation of data quality assurance strategies in the DREAMS programs
  • Supports development and implementation of data use plans in the country programs and projects
  • Supports as well as analyzes program data to support the documentation and dissemination of promising practices and lessons learned
  • Participates and supports various M&E related Technical Assistance projects;
  • Participates in various capacity building efforts related to M&E;
  • Provides other program monitoring and evaluation technical support, upon request of the SIE manager as well as the respective program leads.

Required Qualifications

  • A relevant master’s degree in social sciences, epidemiology, demography, public health an added advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (required),
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the area of monitoring and evaluation, and/or health program planning, management and evaluation and health research
  • Ability to travel approximately 80% of the time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong and demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access;
  • Experience managing and/or using quantitative methods for basic analyses of large data sets using statistical packages;
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, required;
  • Proven ability to work effectively as member of dynamic team in fast-paced environment.
