Context and Scope of the Position

Under the overall supervision of the Migration Management Programme Coordinator, and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVR/R) sub-unit within the Migration Management Unit (MMU), the incumbent will be assisting with the overall implementation and follow up of the reintegration plans of Ethiopian returnees.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Interview and provide general guidance to beneficiaries regarding developing reintegration plans;
  • Closely follow reintegration procedures, complete forms and record and update information on beneficiaries;
  • Keep track of financial spending on assigned activities;
  • Purchase materials and equipment when necessary;
  • Follow up on the reintegration progress of the beneficiaries for purpose of programme monitoring and evaluation;
  • Provide information for donor reporting upon request;
  • Conduct field visits as needed;
  • Support projects aimed at supporting communities of origin most impacted by returns with community development projects and livelihood interventions to reduce push factors and support social cohesion;
  • Support intervention aimed at scaling up awareness raising on the risks of irregular migration and at promoting local livelihood opportunities;
  • Support efforts aimed at enhancing the capacity of key institutions of the Government of Ethiopia to lead the reintegration of returnees and support the sustainable development of migrant communities of origin;
  • Perform any other tasks as may be assigned.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited academic institution in economics, management, social work, international relations or other related fields with a combination of relevant training and experience.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience for bachelor’s degree holders in implementation and/or monitoring of psycho-social or socio-economic development-oriented assistance programs for vulnerable groups with Government, or with a non-governmental or international organization.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant Government and Non-Governmental counterparts, international organizations, civil society or private sector entities.
  • Experience in the area of migration, refugees and reintegration of migrants and victims of trafficking.
  • Personal commitment, drive for results, flexibility, and ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various cultures and professional background.
  • Good communication, inter-personal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under stressful working conditions such as tight timelines and managing large groups of beneficiaries.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and reporting skills.
  • High level of computer literacy; proficient in Microsoft Windows and MS Office applications.
