The Parliamentary Monitoring Group provides access to information about Parliament with the aim of making Parliament and MPs more accountable to citizens

The Parliamentary Monitoring Group is looking for two dynamic individuals to join the team as a Researcher and Content and Communications Manager

  1. Researcher

Key Responsibilities include:

  •        Design and undertake research projects and policy briefs
  •        Represent PMG and speak about its work to external audiences
  •        Coordinate with the team to ensure maximum visibility of PMG content
  •        Editing and Proofreading
  •        Monitor parliamentary committee meetings
  •        Promote PMG through social media and other channels as appropriate
  •        Maintain Bill Tracker and Petitions and check Government Gazettes

Candidates should demonstrate a keen interest and knowledge about politics, social justice and Parliament.

The individual must be comfortable working with technical, data-heavy information, and have the skills to transform it into accessible, interesting communications products for our audiences.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree
  • Two years relevant work experience
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills (media skills is critical)
  • Highly computer literate

  1. 2. Content and Communications Manager

Job Description

  • Identifying story angles, interviewing, researching, distilling key messages and writing content
  • Website content management: updating People’s Assembly website
  • Updating Members of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures profiles
  • Social media management and reporting on engagement and reach essential
  • Editing and proofreading
  • Monitoring parliamentary committee meetings
  • Moderating website comments by the public and answering queries
  • Media liaison
  • Representing the organisation at public events

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree
  • Two  years relevant work experience
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Media skills are essential and ability to work in Canva / create infographics a plus
  • Highly computer literate
  • Proven interest and knowledge about politics, social justice and Parliament
