Job Description
- Continuously scan the operating environment and ensure response initiatives are implemented, taking into considerations the realities on the ground
- Lead the design and development of activity proposals with the participation of Program Officers, Grants and Contracts team and MERL Director, which includes management of programmatic, administrative, budget, logistics, personnel and contractual support, and maintaining activity files and progress tracking mechanisms
- Facilitate rapid assessments that set to describe the situation on the ground and challenges encountered; analyze and propose potential project ideas
- Provide backstopping and troubleshooting support to Program Officers through frequent discussions and progress follow-up meetings
- In consultation with DCOP and COP, manage and/or participate in the identification and selection of grantees, sub-contractors and STTA providers, as needed
- Ensure all relevant documentation, including partnership document for each activity, is in place in accordance with SIPED II contracts and office guidelines
- In close collaboration with USAID, the DCoP and CoP, plan, coordinate and facilitate Strategy Review Sessions (SRS)
- In collaboration with the MERL team, develop, monitor, evaluate and recommend performance measures for response initiatives, including the work of contractors and grantees
- Provide orientation, training and mentoring support to Program Officers and other SIPED II team members, as required
- Conduct/oversee monitoring visits and compile reports of activity implementation
- Ensure conflict sensitivity at all stages of the project implementation stages
- Provide regular support and supervision to staff under his/her line management. This includes the formulation of individual work plans (with agreed indicators of achievement) based on unit work plans and/or job descriptions. Builds the technical and managerial capacity of staff under direct line management and delegates tasks (as deemed necessary) for the efficient performance of activities
- Conduct periodic and regular performance appraisal and feedback for the staff under his/her direct supervision.
Other Functions.
- Performs any other related duties that may be assigned to her/him by the Supervisor.
Job Requirements
A/ EDUCATION/TRAINING
BA/MA Degree in Political Science, Sociology, law, or other related Social Science field.
B/ EXPERIENCE
8/6 years of relevant experience.
C/ TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Ø Strong facilitation skills, conflict sensitive
Ø Proven conflict and peace building programming experience
Ø Experience in conflict management/peacebuilding approaches like proven dialogue methodologies, trauma healing, inclusive programming
Ø Mature, confident, articulate, calm, appreciative, adaptable and friendly personality
Ø Objective, moderate and balanced views and outlook
Ø A reputation for patience, tact and discretion in interactions with others
Ø The willingness and ability to take initiatives when there are opportunities and persevere when there are challenges
Ø No history of partisan political affiliation
Ø Strong commitment to accepted ethical and moral principles and standards
Ø Experience in managing and administering projects.
Ø Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, both beneficiaries and partners.
Ø Fluency in written and spoken English and Amharic.
Ø Excellent written and oral communication.
Ø Flexible, with ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks.
Ø Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheet and DBase skills.

The incumbent is expected to establish and maintain open and cordial relationship with GO, CSOs, and other stakeholders in order to obtain the required support and collaboration for the smooth coordination and implementation of DI-related activities.
- WORKING CONDITIONS AND LEVEL OF TRAVEL REQUIRED
This position is located in Addis Ababa, with frequent field travel.
