Restoring Family Links (RFL) Field Officer 1

Under the supervision of the RFL delegate, the Restoring Family Links Field Officer is in charge of supporting the
implementation and monitoring of ICRC RFL activities at the sub-delegation level. He/she shall participate in networking
and dialogue with relevant interlocutors, ensures interaction with other departments, sub-delegations and offices, the
NRCS and other external contacts. He/she represents the ICRC with beneficiaries and external actors at all times.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Performs internal and external follow-up of individual cases under the supervision of the line manager
  • Follows-up on cases for tracing in areas covered by Yola Sub-delegation
  • Registers unaccompanied children and vulnerable persons, ensures they are regularly re-visited and families are traced;
  • Organizes family reunifications;
  • Collects and distributed Red Cross Messages
  • Conducts field activities in collaboration with the RFL team and with NRCS volunteers’ support
  • Participates in planning field activities
  • Identifies host communities for dissemination and needs assessment activities depending on the situation and internally displaced persons movements;
  • Contributes to reporting and produces qualitative field trip reports;
  • Participates in training and coaching of NRCS volunteers;
  • Supports the RFL delegate and other team members in drafting and/or improving working procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree or professional diploma in a relevant field
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Hausa (Kanuri an asset)
  • Previous experience as a social worker or in similar field an asset

Personal Attributes:

  • Very good computer skills
  • Very good analytical skills and knowledge of the North-East of Nigeria
  • Good communication skills, able to represent the organization properly with
  • different level of interlocutors

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a humanitarian institution based in Geneva, Switzerland and a three-time Nobel Prize Laureate. State parties (signatories) to the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their Additional Protocols of 1977 (Protocol I, Protocol II) and 2005 have given the ICRC a mandate to protect victims of international and internal armed conflicts.
