1. B) BACKGROUND TO HUMANITY & INCLUSION AND COUNTRY MISSION

Humanity and Inclusion -HI (the new name and re-branding of Handicap International since January 2018) was founded in France in 1982. In 2009, the HI Federation was established in Brussels. The membership of the Federation has since expanded to 8 countries, namely; France, Belgium, UK, USA, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Canada. We work alongside disabled and vulnerable people to help meet their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights. 1. C) INFORMATION ON THE CONTEXT OF THE MISSION

HI has been operating in South Sudan since 2006, implementing emergency and development actions aimed at improving protection, quality of life, and the promotion of rights of vulnerable individuals, including people with physical disabilities. HI’s current operations are centred in POCs (protection of civilian sites) and IDP camps outside Juba city and in three greater states: Yei, Torit and Yambio in greater Central Equatoria state, greater Eastern Equatoria and greater Western Equatoria respectively, with the Country Office based in Juba city. During 2019, HI is planning to establish a base in the greater Unity, which remains the most conflict and disability affected region of the whole country. The operational context in South Sudan today is considered largely humanitarian/emergency while phasing in resilience programming. The ongoing peace initiatives if they succeed might result in huge population movements of returnees (both IDPs and refugees) across the country.

DESCRIPTION DE POSTE :

General mission:

The Roving Rehabilitation Therapist (Rehab Advisor) – in link with the other Flying Team members will work closely with humanitarian actors, to assess and address the needs of persons with disabilities, with injuries and other vulnerable individuals with functional limitations. A key function of the TA will be to strive to build capacity of National Physiotherapy and Orthopaedic technician teams to do the actual clinical work while the TA focuses on providing oversight and coaching.

Core responsibilities:

The TA reports to the Project Manager Flying Team with a technical reporting line to the Rehab Technical Coordinator. Core objectives:

• Direct services: identification, assessment of needs and provision services to persons with functional limitations (provision of functional exercises, provision of assistive devices in close cooperation in close cooperation with the other rehabilitation team members, training on use and maintenance, education of caregivers; and development and implementation of psychomotor stimulation activities, in close cooperation with the other rehabilitation staff, the psychologist and psychosocial workers).
• Capacity building and mentoring: provide contextualised sensitization and demonstration training to the project team, community and health workers. S/he mentors rehabilitation staff.

PROFIL ATTENDU :

Diploma(s):

Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy from a recognized University/School.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy services.
• Previous experience in working in Physical and functional rehabilitation project
• Previous experience in capacity building and preparation/provision of trainings

Competencies:

• Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with partner organizations and humanitarian staff across sectors and to adapt his/her inputs to their field realities.
• Strong computer skills
• Staff and community Capacity building skills
• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written) including the ability to write reports, to document good practices and lessons learnt.
