OVERVIEW

Under the leadership of EiE Director, the Senior EiE Advisor is responsible for the delivery of high quality, technically sound and evidence driven programming. The role holder will provide overall technical direction for the programs, and make recommendations to the EiE Director to support decision making.

THE ROLE

The Key Areas of Accountability include:

  • Program Development, Planning and Implementation
  • Technical Leadership
  • Representation, External Engagement and Coordination
  • Staff Management, Mentorship and Development – Program/Project staff
  • Representation, External Engagement and Coordination
  • MEAL and Reporting

To be successful for this role you will bring/have the following:

  • Recommended a minimum of eight years of relevant experience including at senior level
  • Knowledge of current global and regional evidence and research within the education sector; with a preference for knowledge of refugee education.
  • Good knowledge of and experience in using established inter-agency standards or SCI packages in EiE, such as the INEE, LWiE, ELM, Life Skills, DRR, TICC, TaRL, Catch Up & Remediation, ILET etc.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating EiE programmes in emergency, transition and development contexts.
  • Experience in capacity building and in strengthening various duty bearers understanding of and response to EiE.
  • Proven experience of developing and managing high quality, innovative and cost-effective technical education projects in complex environments, in Uganda and with International NGOs.
  • Proven experience and skills in research and advocacy and influencing institutional, private and/or corporate donors and writing up high quality donor reports.
  • Experience of working with local/national governments and capacity building of systems, partners and staff.
  • Experience in management of finance and budget monitoring and risk management.
  • Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in.
  • Highly numerically articulated with a track record of data manipulation and reporting systems.
  • Highly diplomatic with strong oral and written communication skills in (English).
  • Willing to commit to Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.

1977 A number of Save the Children organisations formed an alliance to coordinate campaigning work to improve outcomes for the world’s children, sowing the seeds for Save the Children as a single global movement for children

1989 The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

194 countries have signed up to this legally binding convention

2004–2009 Save the Children’s largest humanitarian operation, in response to the Indian Ocean tsunami. Our tsunami response programme received funding of US$272 million, largely through generous donations

2009 Save the Children launched EVERY ONE, our largest ever global campaign, to prevent millions of mothers and young children from dying

2012 Our work once again touched the lives of over 125 million children worldwide and directly reached 45 million children.
