Responsibility Overview

The Senior Livelihood Project Officer leads the overall program management and administration functions of the project to be implemented in Oromia, West Hararge Zone, Mieso Woreda so as to ensure the activities intended to economic and Livelihood Opportunities, leadership and participation and create access to basic service delivery. The senior officer expected to ensure that the interventions are successfully implemented according to approved donor and government agreements; and that the human, material and financial resources of the project are well managed in line with IR financial and donor guidelines.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop and regularly update a detailed project work plan guiding the project implementation and ensure the project team under your supervision to monitor project progress towards completion.
  • Provide necessary technical support to increase economic and livelihoods opportunities for ‘at-risk’ girls and vulnerable women.
  • Support the target communities in increasing the leadership and participation of girls and women in peace building processes.
  • Support the target communities for increased utilization to integrated basic service delivery for vulnerable groups.
  • Identify appropriate inputs  to carry out the project activities and thereby achieve the project
  • Prepare and review quarterly and project life time activity plans and budget for the project under implementation
  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly activity plans and reports of the project, and Submit to the relevant staff on time.
  • Identify direct project beneficiaries in collaboration with the local community representatives and stakeholders from the government.
  • Technically lead livelihood and food security activities of the project
  • Work closely with all stakeholders and ensure the community participation in the project activities.
  • Work closely in a team with other project officers and contribute to the maximum of his /her knowledge to the project team in his/her areas of profession as deemed necessary
  • Perform other functions as requested by the immediate supervisor

Job Requirements

Qualification/Experiences and Skills Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Bachelor degree  in economics, Agricultural economics, Rural Development management, Sociology,  Animal health or other related field with a minimum of two and five years’ experience respectively in Livelihood related interventions with the international NGOs.
  • Good technical knowledge on value chain.
  • Experience in implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience  in working in  International Non-Governmental Organization setting
  • Computer literate in word processing and excel packages
  • Knowledge of the project area and local language (Afan Oromo) is highly recommendable
