Established in 2003, Malaria Consortium, is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations specialising in the comprehensive prevention, control and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases among vulnerable and underprivileged populations. We increasingly find our work on malaria can be effectively integrated with other similar public health interventions for greater impact and therefore expanded our remit to include child health and neglected tropical disease interventions.
Malaria Consortium remains steadfast in its mission to improve lives through research-based programme delivery and implementation of effective malaria control interventions. Over the years, the organization has worked with government, research bodies, and implementing partners to expand access to evidence-based malaria prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services. However, we recognize that to sustain these gains and achieve national malaria elimination targets, there is an urgent need to foster deeper collaboration with research institutions, harness innovative ideas, and strengthen the bridge between research outputs, policy and practice. We are planning to hold a research summit with researchers and research institutions especially those working on health financing, policy and planning, economic evaluations, impact financing and start – ups, health demand side issues, and Public–Private–Philanthropic Partnerships to provide answers to key policy questions of sustainable funding for malaria and better and more equitable targeting of interventions and allocation of resources.
