SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Senior Officer – Knowledge Management and Communications will provide effective professional technical/practical knowledge management and communication services to support program activities.  He/she will also be responsible for supporting implementation of the knowledge management and communication strategy.

 Responsibilities Include:

  • Support implementation of the organization’s knowledge management and communication strategy.
  • Lead the collection of information, and the documentation of project knowledge products such as abstracts, technical briefs, bulletins and, success stories.
  • Prepare, plan, and execute documentation for project close out.
  • Lead the design of project’s final products using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel, and or any other appropriate design software.
  • Support production of high quality project documents and ensure adherence to the IntraHealth International Style and Citation Standards/Guidelines as well as compliance with USAID approved Branding and Marking Plan.
  • Support the production and editing of information, education and communication materials e.g. brochures, fact sheets, newsletters and documentaries and their dissemination.
  • Maintain knowledge repositories in the staff portal to store articles, reports, concept papers and other project related documents.
  • Conduct continuous quality improvement to evaluate information adequacy and quality as well as staff and partner needs.
  • Support photographic documentation of programmatic work in compliance with IntraHealth ethical guidelines.
  • Media relations, press coordination and tracking in line with IntraHealth and USAID media policy.

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • A master’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations or equivalent qualifications.
  • At least 5 years working experience, (at least 3 of which should be in a USAID funded project), with demonstrated working exposure to media industry in Kenya
  • Demonstrated competencies in design and formatting of knowledge products such as education and communication materials, documentation and publication (including web-based documentation) in program implementation
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships with media representatives, government officials, NGOs, community groups and other partners.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications, especially those related to interactive digital media.
  • Competence in the use of communication tools, equipment such as high resolution cameras, video, writing and editing skills.

 Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator preferred
  • Proficiency in Corel preferred
  • Or equivalent software
