Still I Rise (“the Organization”) is looking for a SET UP MANAGER to join our team to roll-out an innovative, childhood education program in Juba, South Sudan. The Set-up Manager will scout for a location within the city of Juba, with access and proximity to vulnerable communities, and identify a suitable building to carry out educational operations, train staff, manage government relationships and interact with communities, supervising the logistics and education department in the set-up phases.

The successful candidate must be energetic, highly organised, an excellent communicator and skilled in community entry protocols and mobilisation. The position may evolve into a senior management position within the Program once the set-up phase of the project is completed.

Essential Requirements:

  • South Sudanese National
  • Full English and Arabic language proficiency, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • 3-5 years of experience in project cycle management and team management
  • Experience and understanding of local educational system, education programs in emergency
  • Stakeholder management and government liaisons experience
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Experience in recruitment, accounting, budget, financial management and planning.
  • High level of accountability over work and provision of creative solutions and ways of seeing.
  • Ability to advise and mentor team members.
  • Good IT skills including use of MS Office, Google Drive, and Slack.
  • Experience working in a humanitarian sector, non-profit environment.
  • Driving license

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment of team management, teachers, and auxiliary staff with the support of the Operations Manager, head of programs and HR department global (liaison with Education for teachers)
  • Recruitment of auxiliary staff (i.e. security guard, driver, cleaner).
  • Scouting for a location within Kolwezi and identifying a suitable building to carry out educational operations
  • Assuming functions of legal representation of SIR SSD (South Sudan), where requested
  • Supervising the construction, maintenance and renovation works to be carried out on the Organization’s building
  • Supervising the purchase of the Organizations’ vehicle and identify suitable transportation routes; vetting and negotiating the programs’ suppliers for the school, in coordination with the Logistics Officer and Operations Manager
  • Operating the organizations’ bank account, if so requested
  • Support the Operations Manager and the Logistics Officer in coordinating external agencies (law firm, accountant) to ensure legal compliance of the Program in the following areas:

1. Lease agreement or Title Deed for the Property

2. Obtention of all necessary authorizations from the relevant public authorities,

3. Construction contract for renovations of the property (where applicable),

4. All other procurement activities,

  • Establishing strong ties with the relevant public authorities.
  • Establishing, in coordination with the Operations Manager, a recruitment process for the students and beneficiaries of the Organization,
  • Interacting with local stakeholders on behalf of Still I Rise to ensure our program is well received in the hosting community
  • Identify the mining communities for outreach purposes, and ensure that the Organization can gain access to the designated community.
