Women Support Association (WSA) is an indigenous non- political, non- religious, non-profit, humanitarian and development-oriented organization working in Ethiopia to the improvement of the social, economic, and physical well-being of the poor women in particular and the community in general. Currently the organization is operating in two regions SNNPR and Amhara National Regional States.

WSA envisions Ethiopian women empowered. The mission of WSA is to create conducive environment for women to realize and utilize their potentials for sustained livelihood.

Currently, WSA is seeking to hire competent, qualified and interested candidate for the position of Social Accountability Finance Officer who is responsible to for financial management of the SA project, including accountable spending in the intervention woredas.

General Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage the project finances by strictly following the operational manual that is part of the contract with the MA – ensure that MA financial directives are shared with and understood by the partners in the contract and all the project team members;
  • Support the project coordinator in budget planning, modification and forecasting – so that every team member understands the budget resources available and how to account for these;
  • Provide technical financial management support to all the Woreda SA experts in the contract (including those employed by partners) – so that they can manage the budget for their woreda in a transparent and accountable manner;
  • Ensure that the program expenditure figures reconcile with those held by the contract partners. In addition, ensure that the expenditure reported to the MA are reconciled with your accounting record
  • Ensure that the financial reports (including those prepared by partners) have the required documentation before sharing these reports to the ESAP3 MA;
  • Prepare periodical financial reports based on the operational manual and submit as per the agreed time frame;
  • Disseminate the approved quarterly financial report to the partners together with the verification memo;
  • Notify sub-partners timely in case there is ineligible expenditure identified by the MA;
  • Discuss financial management issues during the quarterly project management team meetings;
  • Facilitate internal (by MA) and external Project audits as per the contract requirements;
  • Facilitate project administration matters, such as procurement and close-out;

 Duration: for one year with possibility of extension based on performance evaluation and availability of budget

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification and Experience

  • BA degree in Accounting and 4 years financial management experience of a project
  • Strong financial reporting skills – excellent recording of financial transactions
  • Proven skills with computer based financial reporting is a must
  • Experience with facilitation of external audits
  • Experience in handling SA Project financial management has a bonus.
  • Willingness to travel field offices as required
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining healthy partnership with funding partners, government partners and other NGOs working in partnership.

Required Skills:

  • Peachtree software application skill is mandatory
  • Good knowledge of Excel application skill is mandatory
  • Strong communication skills.

Priority

  • Priority will be given for qualified Female applicants

Women Support Association (WSA) is an indigenous, non-political, non-religious, non-profit humanitarian and development oriented organization working in Ethiopia for the improvement of the social, economic, and physical well-being of the poor women in particular and the community in general. WSA was established in 1995. It is registered and licensed by Charities and Societies Agency (CSA) as an Ethiopian Residents Charity in accordance with the Charities and Societies Proclamation No. 621/2009. It has secured a renewed license with certificate No. 0922 from CSA issued on 13th April 2016.

Current operational areas

WSA operates in 2 (two) regions (SNNPR and Amhara National Regional State) and 7 Zones, 23 Woredas and has offices in North Wollo Mersa Town, North Shoa Shoarobit, Gamogofa Zone Arbaminch town and South Omo Jinka town. Moreover, there are area liaison offices at Segen Peoples zone Konso town, and Wolayita zone Sodo town. As per the new organizational strategic plan (2017 – 2021), the organization has also planned to expand its intervention to Oromiya and Gambella regional states. Currently, the organization has 120 staffs (55 F).
