Position Title : Social Media Assistant

Duty Station : IOM Regional Office for Middle East and North Africa in Cairo, Egypt

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context and Scope:

Under the direct supervision the Podcast Coordinator and Presenter and in close coordination with IOM Regional Media and Public Information Officer, the consultant will perform the following tasks:

Objectives:

a) Disseminate knowledge on migration in a friendly all-public format which communicates IOM research around migration critical issues in an accessible way.

b) Increase and engage with a wide audience to create public awareness and disseminate the knowledge on migration, in MENA region and beyond.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

Main

  1. Review and update the podcast social media plan which includes publishing and disseminating the podcast on regional social platforms such as Facebook, Soundcloud, Twitter, Apple podcast, LinkedIn as well as through radio stations, newspapers, influencers etc.
  2. Create all social media posts to maximize the podcast outreach to different audiences. This includes conducting research and providing supervisor with different posts options, and finalizing as advised in a timely manner; posts include appealing visual content in English and Arabic (such as, infographics, GiFs, header images, quote cards, with accompanying description/caption/hashtags etc.)
  3. Implement and update the podcast social media calendar consisting of posting the agreed upon and finalized social media and video/podcast content.
  4. Analyze engagement/generate reports, evaluating impact and recommending ways to improve results on a regular basis.
  5. Conduct assessment and engage with MENA influencers and platforms discussing migration and social issues.

Secondary 6. Organize high quality content for Regional Office (RO) Cairo’s social media platforms, across the agreed social media platforms, in a planned manner and in coordination with the concerned colleagues.

  1. Keep the team abreast of opportunities to launch or join a campaign.
  2. Support the team in planning and implementing social media tactics for special regional events.
  3. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Tangible and Measurable Outputs of the Work Assignment

· Creation of social media posts to maximize the podcast outreach to different audiences.

· Implementation and finalization of the podcast social media calendar.

· Reviewing and updating the podcast social media plan which includes publishing and disseminating the podcast on regional social platforms.

· Engaging with MENA influencers and platforms discussing migration and social issues. · Generation of a final report and evaluation of impact, including recommendation for better results.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

· Master’s degree in statistics or related discipline with a strong quantitative analysis component, from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or

· University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

· Experience working in using design software for social media content;

· Experience working in a United Nations (UN) agency an advantage.

Languages

Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.

The consultant will be responsible for following IOM writing guidelines and latest glossaries in all given assignments for accurate translation.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable.

A prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, and work permit, as applicable.
