The Tshwane Leadership Foundation (TLF) was launched in 1993 and is committed to model innovative social change and a high degree of social inclusion in the capital city of South Africa. TLF is an umbrella organisation that comprises seven programmes and five institutions, all working towards healthy urban communities that are socially inclusive and viable, and towards a policy environment that would enable social attachment and human rights protection.

TLF seeks to appoint a Social Worker for the Lerato House programme, to be based in South Africa.

Salary: To be confirmed on the day of the interview

Start date: Immediately

Lerato House is a holistic empowerment programme for girls in crisis. It is a place where girls are empowered to discover their full potential and be re-integrated into society.

Responsibilities:

Intake and Assessment

  • Ensure that intake and orientation procedures of girls are followed through with diligence
  • Ensure that discipline and discharge of girls happens within the framework of the policies of the organisation

Family assessment

  • Arrange regular meetings with girls
  • To family mediation and integration work
  • Organise after care work with families

Therapeutic Programmes

  • Do individual counseling, group work and relevant training session with women

 Administration work

  • Compile monthly statistics and reports
  • Manage proper filing system

 Requirements:

  • An accredited BA Social work degree and Registration with SACSSP is a must
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in working with girls in crisis will be an advantage
  • Experience in dealing with Department of Social Development
  • A valid driver‘s license
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Teamwork experience and cultural sensitivity are critical
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook software programmes)
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated capacity in critical thinking and complex problem solving, and good judgment
  • Ability to work under pressure
