In Egypt, Save the Children International has been working to ensure that children’s rights are respected, protected and promoted since 1982. We carry out both long-term development work and, more recently emergency humanitarian work.
Sponsorship program is one of the long-term programs in SCI which almost prepare for safe exiting from the community without harm for the children and provide appropriate psychosocial support for targeted children and their parents.
ROLE PURPOSE:
the psychologist will provide the psychosocial support needed for children and their families identified through activities of child protection. Also, S/he will participate in delivery of needs assessment, capacity building, and networking with mental health providers
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Sponsorship child protection senior officer (Dotted line to MHPSS Manager)

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Conduct safe exit sessions with children to support them during phase out of the program.
- Identify, assess, develop intervention plan, and participate in coordination with CP program in refer severe cases to appropriate psychiatric service providers as required.
- Develop interactive child protection activities on basic counselling Resilience techniques for social workers and ECCD teachers.
- Contribute to the design and facilitation of other program activities building resilience and wellbeing of target group.
- Assist the program’s staff in material development, training deliveries on topics regarding needs identified.
- Preparing confidential reports on all cases and their progress.
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to administer the psychometric assessments upon need and deliver reports accordingly.
- Conduct GBV sessions for teachers and social workers.
- Document activities and contribute to project reports as required.
- Participate in peer supervision mechanisms for psychologists, in collaboration with MHPSS technical manager.
- Other MHPSS tasks as required.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Essential
- Bachelor degree in psychology, master’s degree preferred;
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in psychological counselling;
- Excellent interactive training skills;
- Strong organizational and administrative skills;
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills;
- Good in English and fluent Arabic (spoken and written) is required;
- Experience with marginalized communities in Egypt and associated political/cultural sensitivities;
- Commitment to SCI’s values and Child Safeguarding policy;
- Basic case management skills are required;
Desirable
- Experience with youth and sexual gender-based violence ‘SGVB’ survivors.
- Familiar with gender-based violence ‘GBV’ drawbacks in the Egyptian context.
