CARE seeks a Strategic Learning Lead for an anticipated Food for Peace (FFP) Development Food Security Activity (DFSA). This position will be based in Blantyre, an accompanied post. This position is subject to project award and funding.

The Strategic Learning Lead collaborates with the Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party to drive learning and create, implement, and integrate learning linkages. The Strategic Learning lead will also develop learning synergies, along with a continuous learning loop with the M&E Lead and the M&E team. S/he will engage project stakeholders in gathering information and lessons emerging from program implementation and ensuring quality communications to external stakeholders.

The Strategic Learning Lead will ensure that project staff are ready and able to engage in learning plans and behaviors as described in USAID’s CLA (collaborative learning and adaptation) framework. S/he will lead the implementation of the learning agenda for the whole project, acting as a focal point to connect internal and external actors and learning, a driver of learning behaviors and the comprehensive learning agenda (to further inform program adaptation), a coach who supports others to learn, and a coordinator of key learning activities both inside and outside the project.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience is required with a Master’s degree or 7 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in food security, knowledge management, organizational learning, capacity strengthening, and collaborative learning and adaptation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of Gender Equity and Diversity, as evidenced in previous positions / programming.
  • Experience working on a USAID-funded program or other large, bi-lateral donor agency projects, is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships and productive working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex and complicated ideas into easily accessible and understandable concepts and/or messages
  • Excellent, high-level, demonstrated written and oral communications skills in English is required.
  • Ability to travel to program areas in Malawi as required.
