REAP REQUIRES SERVICES OF A STUDENT DEVELOPMENT ADVISOR TO BE BASED IN BLOEMFONTEIN
DURATION:  2 YEAR CONTRACT POSITION

REAP is seeking to appoint a Student Development Advisor based in Bloemfontein. We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, ethical with professional maturity and has high work energy levels. He/she must have strong administrative capabilities and be able to adapt to a changing environment.

REAP is a national NGO and Associate Body of the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference that facilitates access to Higher Education for poor rural matriculates. REAP is seeking to appoint a Student Development Advisor based in Bloemfontein. We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, ethical with professional maturity and has high work energy levels.  He/she must have strong administrative capabilities and be able to adapt to a changing environment.

Minimum specific requirements:

  • At least 2 years minimum experience working with youth, preferably in the TVET sector or student support services
  • Undergraduate degree in Social work or related discipline
  • Fluency in isiSotho, Tswana and/or Afrikaans
  • Code B driver’s licence with driving experience

Other requirements:

  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Facilitation skills
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Suite and database systems
  • Knowledge of the TVET sector
  • Solutions-oriented and resourceful
  • Team player
  • Self-management skills

Key performance areas:

  • Student support and development
  • Networking and Liaison with Institutional Staff and other relevant Stakeholders
  • Administration and data management
  • Workshop and small group facilitation

REAP was registered as an incorporated association in 2001, having previously operated as Catholic Education Assistance Programme (CEAP). REAP is an associate body of the Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference (SACBC) but assists all young people regardless of faith or affiliation. REAP has Level 3 BEE status. We are registered as a non-profit organisation in South Africa and have tax exemption status. Donations to REAP are therefore exempt from tax.

REAP is a national programme with its head office in Cape Town and regional offices in Johannesburg and Durban. We currently have a team of 30 staff members and a wide network of recruitment volunteers and NGO partners throughout South Africa. Our students originate from rural schools in all 9 provinces and are enrolled in a wide range of courses at 16 different Higher Education Institutions.
