Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

Background

Plan International Uganda is an independent child centred development and humanitarian not for profit organization offering internship opportunities for students pursuing their academic qualifications from recognized training institutions, as it’s mandatory by the institutions that students have to undergo industrial training to provide them with practical application of theory and  learning opportunity that is closely monitored to ensure learning occurs through practical work experience from either an on-going project or within a department. It provides interns with the opportunity to benefit from practical knowledge and/or skills of interacting and working with the communities as they gain understanding of community work in relation to the theory learnt from the institutions. While it’s aimed at providing the intern with a substantive and challenging work experience, internship is a process that exposes the students to the working environment and enables him/her to apply his/her competencies and skills in performing project assignments that are in line with their career aspirations.
