Social Network of Youths after HIV Seroconversion in the Sustainable East Africa Research in Community Health (SEARCH) Study will compare the social networks of youth before and after seroconversion and evaluate the association of the network changes with clinical outcomes. Youths who were 15-24 years old and HIV uninfected during the baseline year and seroconverted prior to follow up year three will be involved in this cross-sectional survey.

Global Programs for Research & Training is seeking to employ one (1) Study Coordinator. The position will require a 5 months commitment.

The Study Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator.

Roles & Responsibilities:

· Maintain daily oversight of study implementation within timelines

· Coordinating the study team to ensure proper implementation of the study activities

· Working collaboratively with ART clinics to identify and track youth seroconverts for survey implementation

· Evaluates patients for inclusion/exclusion in the study according to the study protocol

· Oversee and actively participate in data collection for the study

· Works with site ART clinicians and nurses to ensure timely reporting of visit schedules for the identified youth seroconverts

· Takes lead in training and supervising the functions for the Research Assistant(s) and other applicable facility personnel supporting study activities

· Ensures participant privacy and confidentiality are maintained

· Mentoring and supervising clinic staff members in the sub-counties on understanding the role of social networks on success of HIV care/treatment

· Compiling study recruitment progress and regular reports and updates

· Reporting suspected or confirmed protocol variances with support from the regulatory team

· Developing and review of applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be used in the study while consulting with the PI

· Oversee and monitor study budget expenditure

· Maintain relationship with collaborating partners and the Ministry of Health

· Works in a professional and ethical manner with competence, accountability and integrity

Required Qualifications.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Health or Social Sciences or equivalent from a recognized training institution.

· Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Nursing with at least 5 years relevant working

experience

· Master’s degree will be an advantage

Required Experience

· At least 3 years’ experience within a busy HIV prevention/care program, preferably in a supervisory role

· Some clinical research experience with adults and young children strongly preferred

Other Required Skills

· Be duly registered by the relevant professional body where applicable

· Hold a valid practicing license where applicable

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: Effective in both oral and in written

communication and reporting

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff members across

all cadres

· Natural ability to multitask, problem solve and work with others to resolve challenges

· Ability to develop and in depth understanding of study goals and its implementation

· Strong self-motivation and ability to work in a team, with good interpersonal skills

· Independent judgement and resourcefulness, understanding of the local social and

geographical landscape as well as the community required

· Must be willing to work in rural remote settings of Suba, Mbita, Uriri and Rongo

sub- counties with extra hours and long-distance travels

· Computer literacy a must

· Ability to ride a motorbike (with valid driving license) will be an added advantage
