Abraham Kriel Childcare (AKC) is a registered NPO that provides both residential care and community services within Gauteng. AKC focuses on providing shelter, care, rehabilitation and skills development for children and youth, who have been subjected to trauma, abuse, molestation, poverty, HIV/AIDS and neglect.

AKC seeks to appoint Training Coordinator to be based in Johannesburg.

The purpose of the position is to coordinate trainings at the Skills Centre. Assist learners with employment placement opportunities or encourage learners to start small businesses or encourage learners to continue with their studies. Act as a Centre Manager in the absent of the Centre Manager

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate various training programmes provided at the Skills Centre
  • Assist learners to adapt to the courses they registered for and ensure they complete the training
  • Ensure that facilitators have all the necessary training materials
  • Take full responsibility for the training equipment and ensure that all training rooms are equipped with the necessary equipment before trainings commences
  • Determine basic material support needed by learners, for example nutritional support
  • Assist the Centre Manager with recruitment of new students to the programme
  • Coordinate the attendance of classes and where necessary take corrective actions
  • Administrative functions: record keeping of actual training, ensure attendance registers are kept, and manage exit strategy after completion of training
  • Assist with inputs on the budget, business plans, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • In the absence of the facilitators, supervise the learners and facilitate classroom activities
  • Perform additional tasks within the scope of practice of program as stated in the mission and the vision of the organisation

Requirements:

  • Senior Certificate a must and further training will be an advantage
  • Three years’ experiences working in an NGO environment
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in a Training Centre or Skills Development Environment
  • Valid drivers’ Licence a must
  • Planning and organising
  • Communication skills and ability to write reports
  • Stress tolerance
  • Proficient in MS Office and English
  • Be able to speak African language/s

Our activities include: Care in a normal home setup for abused, molested, abandoned and neglected children. Support for children whose lives have been ruined by Aids. Our organisation is growing rapidly in this regard. Early childhood development and outreach programmes to disadvantaged communities with the aim of preventing family disintegration. Skills development for youth that need to access the marketplace. In all our approaches we are connected to long term, comprehensive care which touches and strengthens all our children, so that they have the opportunity to lead productive and fulfilling lives.
