II. The Role of the Translator:

·         Assist in developing, revising and editing training materials for new and existing programs that the organization is undertaking

·         Translate training manuals and materials including training aids and other documents from English to Amharic and to any other language that the translator is proficient in and vice versa

·         support in activities involved in delivering TOT and other training

·         Production of training materials including laminating, binding and distribution to the team

·         Work closely with the field team and collect feedback and act accordingly to ensure translation quality, as well as the availability of training materials on time, is adhered to

·         Support in designing ways on how to collect training aid from field and reuse efficiently

·         Any other related activities assigned by the immediate supervisor or the management

Job Requirements

III. REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Economics or related fields with over 2-4 years’ experience in translating and contextualizing documents to various native languages

·         Fluency in English, Amharic, and local language preferably Sidamigna or Oromiffa: languages in Written and Verbal Communication

·         Understanding of Grammar and Knowledge of Specific Subjects

·         Good Interpersonal and Communication skills,

·         Accuracy and Attention to Detail,

·         Software Proficiency- Excellent computer/typing skills

·         A highly motivated person with the ability to meet deadlines and ability to Work under Pressure

  • Ability to work with multicultural and multi background people

IV. PREFERRED SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

  • Strong experience in translations, interpretation, and contextualization of documents from English to Amharic and at least local language of the working area
  • Experience in facilitating and delivering training
  • Experience working with farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses is an added advantage.
