African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) is a leading, independent Pan-African centre of policy research and dialogue on the African child. It aims to provide a platform for dialogue; contribute to improved knowledge of the problems facing children in Africa; identify policy options; and strengthen the capacity of governments and CSOs to develop and implement effective pro-child policies and programmes.

ACPF is recruiting a Senior Technical Officer for the African Partnership to End Violence against Children (APEVAC). APEVAC is an Africa-wide platform for multi-faceted engagement, experience sharing and cross-learning in addressing violence against children.

The Senior Technical Officer will have a critical technical role in the development and implementation of strategy and programmes and in supporting the Partnership to be an effective regional platform that boosts collective action and/or leverage resources by enhancing harmony and coordination among diverse groups. She/he is expected to actively drive the delivery of the Partnership strategy, develop and implement high quality and effective programme of work for the Partnership, grow the membership and visibility of the Partnership and support resource mobilization. The STO will also play a critical role in building and maintaining partnerships and alliances primarily within Africa but also globally.

This is a senior technical position, based at the ACPF headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which involves interaction with African, international and civil society executives, thinkers and experts in the child rights area.

The successful candidate should have at least 10 years of progressive experience in human rights, humanitarian or development work in Africa, and experience and knowledge in policy advocacy, managing partnerships, programme management and coalition and alliance building.. She/he should have a post-graduate degree in social work, international development, human rights, education, economics, or other relevant social science. The candidate must demonstrate decision making, accountability and high professionalism. She/he needs to have strong interpersonal, communication and representational skills. English is a must; knowledge of French is desirable.
