Description

FHI 360 is seeking a Career Center Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded Egypt University Centers for Career Development Program. This program is expected to establish a minimum of 20 operational and financially sustainable University Centers for Career Development (UCCD) in up to 20 Egyptian public universities in Greater Cairo, Upper Egypt and the Delta region. The UCCD will improve the long-term capacity of Egyptian public universities to assist students in their transition from college to work. Activities include career guidance, training, technical assistance, sub-grants, provision of equipment and supplies, and operational costs as well as equipment, software, and communications technology.

The Career Center Specialist will provide technical support to career center staff and develop and coordinate services and activities across the centers in Greater Cairo, Upper Egypt and the Delta region. The Career Center Specialist will work closely with both the UCCD Senior Management team in Cairo and the FHI 360 team in Washington DC to ensure that FHI 360 delivers a relevant and adaptable training program and provides value adding technical support to the program.

Ideally, this person has served in the capacity of a technical and partnership development advisor for other development programs and workforce programs in Egypt. S/he should have extensive experience with direct engagement with the private sector and/or providing direct services to university students, ideally including employability and/or employment outcomes.

Job Summary / Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and input into the development of the UCCDs including the co-development of products and services
  • Work with UCCD staff and the Chief of Party to start up and maintain UCCDs at up to twenty public universities in Greater Cairo, Upper Egypt and the Delta region
  • Build the capacity of UCCD staff by delivering formal training, on-going coaching, and developing capacity-building plans with the support of FHI 360 staff in Washington DC
  • Work with UCCD staff to ensure a successful transition of these centers into sustainable career centers
  • Serve as a liaison between key stakeholders, including the prime implementer, private sector firms, educational institutions, USAID and other implementing partners
  • Serve as FHI 360’s point person in Egypt
  • Supervise FHI 360 staff in Egypt
  • Develop linkages with the private sector and employers in collaboration with project staff
  • Advise UCCDs, FHI 360, prime implementer, and partners on development and implementation of tracking system
  • Conduct monitoring and evaluation
  • Contribute to program reporting
  • Ensure that all activities are in compliance with USAID, FHI360, and other applicable policies and regulations

This position will be based in Egypt in a location to be determined, with regular travel to Greater Cairo, Upper Egypt and the Delta region.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree required (in business administration, economics, political science, international development, or another relevant field, from an accredited university). An advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 7 years of experience in advisory, capacity building roles, including international development, ideally in workforce development, higher education, and/or private sector development programs.
  • Experience with direct service provision to university students and/or engagement with private sector actors.
  • 5+ years of experience in capacity building.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to find viable solutions to complicated problems in a flexible, time sensitive and creative manner.
  • Strong team player, with demonstrated ability to positively motivate team members to success.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and passion for youth workforce development and improvement of livelihoods. Deep appreciation for youth energy, leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Fluent in written and spoken Egyptian Arabic, English fluency strongly preferred.
