Project Overview and Role

The Nigeria Expanded Trade and Transport Program (NEXTT) seeks to increase Nigerian private sector investment and trade in agribusiness and infrastructure. Its principal tools include direct firm level assistance, capacity building for business associations and public sector institutions charged with the responsibility of assisting the private sector, and trade and investment policy reforms. NEXTT is custodian of a $1.8 million Project Development Facility (PDF) to catalyze business expansions.

As NEXTT enters its 5th year, an extension to its initial 4-year contract, it looks to build on its successes in helping companies dramatically increase exports; in helping the Government of Nigeria plan for the Trade Facilitation Agreement implementation; in building the capacity of partner institutions including the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council and the Nigerian Export Promotion Commission; and identify over 50 companies ready to expand their operations, employ more people, and buy more products locally.

As part of its 2017 Workplan, NEXTT will hold a series of large events from the months of March through August meant to drive interest from the financial sector in PDF companies, spur investment in NEXTT assisted value chains, bring international buyers to meet NEXTT-supported exporters, and raise awareness of investment opportunities in agribusiness.

This Event/Conference Support Assistant will play a key role in organizing NEXTT?s events in its 5th and final year. S/hewill be responsible for coordinating and delivering a range of events–such as conferences, publicity events, dinners and luncheons, and commercial activities.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Regularly meet with stakeholders, attend planning meetings, and ensure that all contributors continue to move forward to successful events.
  2. Work with event organizers and stakeholders to establish objectives of the events, with measurable outcomes where possible. On the basis of these objectives, help organizers and stakeholders craft agendas that will ensure the events meet the conference objectives
  3. Manage event budgets.
  4. Ensure invitations are distributed, particularly to key participants.
  5. Prepare regular reporting to NEXTT Management on progress
  6. Other tasks such as administrative support as needed.

Requirements

  • HND/BSC in Business Administration or other related field.
  • Experience in having organized conferences
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of various Lagos event venues preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of printing and publishing required
  • Ability to work without full time direct supervision ? a self-starter
