African Solutions to African Problems (ASAP) Foundation identifies rural women caring for orphans and vulnerable children in their communities and develops their skills and knowledge so that they are able to create sustainable community care centres tending to the children’s health and wellbeing.

The ASAP Foundation seeks to appoint a Development Manager, based in Matatiele.

Duration: Three month fixed term contract renewable for six months dependent on funding

Salary: R13 000 per month

The applicant must be must be willing to relocate to Matatiele if not already a resident of Matatiele.

The successful applicant will join a team of facilitators to facilitate processes with the care givers of rural communities at the village Community Care Centres. S/he is expected to be committed to and passionate about development in South Africa. S/he will lead in-depth conversations, exploring the depth and breadth of many challenging topics and extracting a great deal of energy and participation from the care givers.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with management team strategically during preparation phase
  • Develop an inclusive environment conducive to developing agency through facilitation
  • Build Partnerships and Collaborations with local NGOs and Government Bodies in and around Matatiele
  • Overseeing and guiding a small team of facilitators
  • Making sure that resources are allocated and managed effectively in line with Head Office agreed directives
  • Ensure on-going culture of learning is maintained through weekly in-house sessions
  • Disseminate information pertaining to staff and field progress to head office through written reports and weekly meetings
  • Manage and ensure that administration and reporting systems are maintained and timeously completed
  • Comply with policy and procedures relating to the training programme, operations and human resources management and
  • Day to day management of the office
  • Support in reporting on grants

Requirements:

  • A minimum of three years’ facilitation experience
  • Spoken Sotho/isiXhosa
  • Computer literacy
  • Social media competence
  • Administrative capability and organising abilities
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Accredited assessor and moderator will be advantageous
  • A proven record of management experience
