Distribution Deputy Program Manager

Duty Station:     Damaturu, Yobe State

Position Overview:

  • The Distribution Deputy Program Manager will directly report to the Distribution/FSL Program Manager and wil play a key role in implementing AAH Food Aid project in Yobe State North-Eastern Nigeria. The Distribution Deputy Program Manager is responsible for running and supervising all implementing activities at all stages of the project management cycle. He/she will ensures the field team completes the defined activities while adhering to internal standards and contractual obligations.
  • Specific Objectives:
  • Oversee detailed planning and implementation of general food distribution (GFD)/ BSFP and related  project activities in coordination with other sectors
  • Identify program implementation modalities that enhance partnership & coordination with government official and local communities, internal integration within sectors and other programs (Nutrition, WASH, BSFP and NFIs, etc.)
  • Ensure program quality and adherence to program objectives, including respect of ACF technical guidelines, systems, and established deadlines
  • Supervise the technical work of the FSL team at all the locations of the project activities in Yobe and surrounding communities.
  • Ensure coordination and proper linkages are established between AAH and other agencies,  through inter agency coordination’s and community sensitization
  • Assist the FSL/ Distribution program manager for the implementation of capacity building activities through on job training (OJT), mentorship and couching.
  • Coordinates with the other FSL partners and other stakeholders at the state and LGA level
  • Oversees the coordination of all the components of the food security and livelihoods program in collaboration with the PM
  • Collaborate with the  other officers of the other departments  by sharing of updates and planning joint movement plans and implementation of activities where feasible
  • Support the team to supervise community promotion and awareness session on all plan activities
  • In collaboration with the PM prepare progress reports, donor reports, proposals, project procurement plan and contribute to assessment reports
  • Compile weekly updates, monthly and training reports and ensure timely submission of such written reports   to the PM
  • Validate activity reports from the distribution officers on each distribution activity before sharing
  • Review activity reports of the distribution officers and  assistants and  provide necessary feedback
  • Organizing and leading meetings with the FSL team and individual staff members
  • Create and supervise implementation of action plans for individual team members
  • Lead and support the project team members in the organization and coordination of their work

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics and extension services or equivalent in a field related to food security and livelihoods in emergency context.
  • 2 years of work experiences. And practical demonstration of the use of excel and Microsoft word

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Fluent English, Hausa and Kanuri.
  • Ability to analyse and synthesize information.
  • Professional, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible, culturally sensitive.
  • Human resource management experience, leadership and motivation/training skills.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Must be disciplined, able to work autonomously.
  • Strong capacity to represent ACF and sustain relations with state and local stakeholders.
  • Interpersonal skills (team management, communication, reporting, autonomy, pedagogy, planning and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience managing multispectral cash transfer program s(i.e. cash transfers or vouchers for nutrition, FSL, WASH, NFI, etc.).
  • Previous experience with ACF.
  • Experience implementing programming on behalf of donor (i.e. USAID, ECHO, DFID, CIDA) funded activities.
  • Fluency in Hausa or Kanuri.
