Pact, an international NGO based in Pretoria, seeks to employ the expertise of a Human Resources Officer on possible 1 year contract to support its USAID Funded Government Capacity Building Programme (GCBS).

Human Resources Officer
(1 year contract)

Reporting to the HR Generalist, the HR Officer will provide all the necessary support to the organisation but not limited to:

Minimum Key Performance Areas

  • Administration of recruitment and selection processes including drafting job adverts, shortlisting, interviews, conduct checks and compiling interview reports, induction of employees etc.
  • Ensuring compliance with SA legislation, HR policies, rules and regulations of Pact are adhered to.
  • Coordinate all quarterly Performance Reviews and staff development needs of the organisation.
  • HR Administration including offer letters, contracts, leave, timesheets, organogram, job descriptions, payroll inputs, skills reports etc.
  • Assist with all Employee Relations matters and coordination of employee wellness activities.
  • Maintenance of HR records including filing manually and electronically.
  • Assist and participate in all HR activities and other ad hoc duties.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Human Resources Management;
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience in HR Administration;
  • Previous experience in an NGO will be an added advantage;
  • Sound knowledge of South African Legislation governing HR;
  • Must have knowledge of VIP Payroll;
  • Registration with South African Board of Personnel Practitioners will be advantageous;
  • A professional individual who is able to deal with highly confidential matters;
  • Must be a very well organised and deadline driven individual;
  • Ability to perform under extreme pressure and take initiative in resolving problems;
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
  • Must be a South African national or permanent resident with fluency in English and in at least one local indigenous South African language;
  • A valid SA drivers licence and must be willing to travel.
