Intern – Political Pluralism & Diversity (PPD)

Successful applicant will be reporting to the Program Advisor – Political Pluralism & Diversity

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for the above position should possess the following:

  • Applicant should have graduated or has finalised 4th year course work and is awaiting graduation, to graduate with a minimum degree in Law, Arts, Political Science or International Relations.
  • Applicants with a Law degree should not be currently admitted to Kenya School of Law or if admitted should have successfully completed pupillage and is awaiting admission to the bar.
  • Between 3 months to 1 year demonstrable experience in issues related to identity and inclusion (women’s rights, ethnicity, minority rights, refugee rights LGBTI rights, political participation, and non-discrimination)
  • Demonstrable interest in human rights work including in working on emergent human rights issues in Kenya.
  • All applicants must possess authorisation to work in Kenya prior to applying for this position.
  • Should possess a valid certificate of good conduct
  • Excellent in written and spoken English and Swahili

  • Applicant should have successfully completed studies at the Kenya School of Law; (those currently undertaking pupillage or awaiting admission to the bar will also be considered)
  • Applicant should demonstrable experience and interest working on international law and human rights.
  • Demonstrable interest on emergent human rights issues in Kenya.
  • Flexibility to undertake urgent travels and work beyond regular office hours on a need basis.
  • Ability to undertake research and draft reports
  • Excellent in written and spoken English and Swahili
  • Keen willingness to learn
  • Excellent Communication, Interpersonal, and Research Skills
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they are highly motivated, possess the ability to follow standard operating procedures, are self-starters and functional problem solvers with the ability to learn.

Intern – Legal Affairs

Successful intern will be reporting to the Program Advisor, Legal Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for the above position should possess the following:

  • Applicant should have graduated or has finalised 4th year course work and is awaiting graduation, to graduate with a minimum degree in Law.
  • Applicant should have between 3 months and 1 year experience working with international, labour, family, human rights and/or environmental law
  • Applicants with a Law degree should not be currently admitted to Kenya School of Law or if admitted should have successfully completed pupillage and is awaiting admission to the bar.
  • Ability to draft legal pleadings, legal reports and attend court hearings
  • Knowledge, relevant practice and understanding of the respective laws and regulations will be an added advantage
  • Ability and knowledge to handle legal aid cases and clients
  • Should have a valid certificate of good conduct
  • Excellent in written and spoken English

Successful intern will be reporting to the Information Technology Assistant.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for the above position should possess the following:

  • Minimum university degree in Information Technology
  • Have between 3 months to 1 year work exposure in an IT related field
  • Excellent in written and spoken English & Swahili
  • A valid certificate of good conduct
  • Basic Networking skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Server 2003 & 2008
  • Microsoft Office 2010 Suite
  • Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
  • Exposure to help desk operations
  • Trouble shooting skills
  • All applicants must possess authorisation to work in Kenya prior to applying for this position.
  • Excellent in written and spoken English and Swahili
  • Willingness to learn
