The German leprosy and tuberculosis aid (DAHW) has received medical treatment or social support from the sick and disabled. The registered association was founded in 1957 as a "German leprosy relief organization".Since then, the DAHW - independent of political or denominational convictions - has been providing sustainable assistance to sick and marginalized people in developing and newly industrialized countries.

At the beginning of 2003 the association renamed itself to the tuberculosis also in the name to represent. The abbreviation DAHW is used for better recognition in donors and long-term conveyors.

Donation seal

Approximately 70,000 people annually trust DAHW donations, many of them already for decades. For many years, the charity has received the donation seal from the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI) for the responsible treatment of donations.

transparency

Within the framework of the transparency award of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the auditing company PriceWaterhouseCoopers, DAHW Deutsche Lepra- und Tuberkulosehilfe eV is awarded for high-quality reporting in 2010

DAHW's aid projects are geared to local needs and cover a very wide range, from the support of individual hospitals to the training of the public health care staff, to the promotion of the disabled and the disabled. In the projects the DAHW cooperates with churches, other relief organizations or with state health authorities. Own, mostly domestic employees on the ground ensure the sustainability of the work and pay attention to the economical use of the funds used. In many projects, former patients are now also working for DAHW. The focus of the work is to help victims of poverty in Asia, Africa and South America.
