Building upon the work done under MaxART thus far, the Government of Swaziland – in collaboration with the MaxART Consortium – is in the final stages of implementing a 3-year Early Access to ART for All (EAAA) Implementation Study to understand the feasibility, acceptability, clinical outcomes, affordability, and scalability of offering a new treatment strategy for people living with HIV.  In that context, CHAI Swaziland is currently seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials to fill the Research Associate position for a period of 6 months

Responsibilities:

The Research Associate will work closely with the Research Manager and Data Scientist to support the implementation and close out activities of the Early Access to ART for All Implementation Study. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support the overall implementation of the study including study work planning and logistics among all health system and health facility activities.
  • Support the clinical mentoring client follow up activities to inform data cleaning and analysis of study data in collaboration with the data management team
  • Provide analytical support to the study team, both utilizing and continuously improving the available clinical monitoring and data analysis tools.
  • Support writing and reviewing of study reports for reporting to donors and Swaziland ethics committee in collaboration with the Research Manager and Data Scientist.
  • Prepare study presentations for facility feedback sessions and for any other identified stakeholders
  • In collaboration with the Research Manager to liaise with partners to ensure that study implementation plans align with national policies and protocol.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • MSc, MA, MPH or equivalent in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, or related field preferred; Clinical experience preferred strongly preferred; or Bachelor’s degree with exceptional experience
  • Minimum work experience of 2 years
  • Good understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodology in the field of public health research
  • Exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills, and an ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders in a culturally diverse environment
  • Highly developed strategic analysis, problem solving, and quantitative skills with ability to create tools to address specific challenges and improve working practices
  • Strong project management skills, including demonstrated ability to think independently, be flexible, and balance multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to mentor and lead teams to perform at a consistently high level in high-pressure situations and ambiguous circumstances.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and to be effective in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to work independently in unstructured settings and to adapt to new environments and challenges
  • High level of proficiency in relevant computer applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other analysis programs.
