Regional Safeguarding Development Manager

The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Regional Child Safeguarding Director and Regional HR Director to support country offices and ensure that that child safeguarding is prioritized and embedded in awareness, reporting and response. The role has a key role in supporting our accountability to donors for the quality of our safeguarding provision and support Country Offices with the implementation of audit action plans.
The event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Qualifications and experience
* Education to degree standard with a professional qualification in a relevant field
* Experience of child protection and child safeguarding within humanitarian settings
* Strong interpersonal, negotiation and diplomacy skills and ability to bring people from different cultures on-board
* Practical field experience and proven track record in strengthening organizational capacity in a field
* Multi-disciplinary experience of working successfully with senior managers in other parts of own / partner’s organisation to deliver major operational change with a track record of delivering results to high standards
* Extensive experience of planning and undertaking training programmes/workshops/trainings in child protection/safeguarding at a range of levels (e.g. field workers, mangers, senior managers and decision makers)
* Self-sufficient, collaborative, proactive self-motivating work styles
* Ability to deliver results against demanding timetables and in the face of competing demands and organizational skill
* Ability to travel and work within challenging environments, such as conflict locations
* Awareness of own strengths and weaknesses and evidence of commitment to self-managed personal development
* Significant experience in CSG including investigation/case management and sector best practice
* Strategic and analytical approach to CSG
* Project management skills to ensure completions of tasks
* Understanding local context of East and Southern Africa
Contract length: 1 Year
