The Africa Platform for Social Protection (APSP) is a pan African network of organizations operating at grassroots, national and regional levels, with a commitment to promoting and strengthening the social contract between states and citizens. APSP works with governments, private sector, development agencies, research institutions and grassroots communities in Africa by designing, testing and delivering appropriate poverty alleviation models to the poor and under served communities through social protection programmes. APSP creates partnerships with civil society & other organizations to engage with governments & International Development Agencies (IDAs) to develop & Implement innovative social protection strategies & programmes that make a difference in poor and vulnerable households in Africa. APSP exists to strengthen civil society engagements with state and non state actors for effective service delivery in Social Protection.
Purpose and Scope
APSP seeks the services of a consultant to support the development of a child protection and safeguarding policy, in line with APSP’s commitment to keep children safe. The consultant shall:
- Review the APSP work and programmes to identify child protection and safeguarding needs.
- Develop a sound Child Protection and Safeguarding policy. The policy should be in compliance with international and regional (Africa) conventions on children.
- Submit the draft policy for review by APSP and Save the Children International.
- Train APSP staff on child safeguarding.
Qualifications:
- Possess an advanced university degree in social sciences
· Experience in child protection work is a must.
- Possess adequate experience in working with children.
- Have experience in child rights programming and regional and international instruments on child protection.
- Possess excellent writing skills
4.0 TIMELINES ON THE CONSULTANCY The consultancy is expected to take place between August and September 2019
