Uncontrolled migration and destabilization are issues that affect Mali and create problems there, as well as abroad. The main causes are lack of employment opportunities and marginalization. There is a high but unsatisfied demand for skills in key sectors with high labor intensity. This Action will contribute to stimulating economic development and social stability by creating opportunities for youth employment, women and returning migrants through the development of horticultural value chains, waste management, agro-food and utility crafts in the regions of Koulikoro, Kayes, Gao and the district of Bamako. Innovation focuses on the market-based skills training approach, methods of irrigation and fertilization, and the development of horticultural cooperative farms, all of which are part of a holistic approach to value chain development. The Action specifically targets marginalized youth, including women, at high risk of migration and returning migrants, who may be influenced by radical groups.
