Amref Health Africa in South Sudan is seeking to hire qualified South Sudaneses Nationals to fill the following Contingent position for the USAID- Advancing HIV & AIDS Epidemic Control (AHEC) Project in South Sudan.
Project Overview: USAID- Advancing HIV & AIDS Epidemic Control (AHEC):
The purpose of the AHEC activity is to decrease morbidity and mortality among South Sudanese by increasing prevention, care, treatment, and retention services for at-risk men, women, children, and key populations; and to improve South Sudan’s journey to self-reliance by improving strengthening the capacity of local partners to prepare them for the receipt of future prime funding.
Job Summary: Provides technical guidance in the implementation of HIV programming to increase the uptake of HIV testing, linkage, retention, and adherence services among young people, and maximize outcomes across the HIV prevention and clinical cascade.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provides technical implementation support for HIV testing, linkage, retention, and adherence services for youth reflecting scientific evidence and best practices, including positive youth development approaches.
· Provides technical expertise and leadership on HIV testing services for young people to increase the provision and utilization of youth-focused services, particularly for those most-at-risk for HIV infection.
· Supports program design and implementation to strengthen the HIV testing, care, and treatment services as they relate to youth, including key elements such as: AGYW and young men-specific testing and linkage services; treatment initiation/retention and adherence activities; and the scale up of viral load monitoring.
· Facilitates programmatic linkages between technical domains working with young populations, including OVC, pediatrics, adult treatment, and key populations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· A Bachelor’ s degree in public health or other related behavioral, social science or clinical field
· Experience must include at least 5 years of designing, implementing and/or evaluating youth-focused health programs.
· Knowledge of the South Sudan government’s national health and HIV/AIDS-related policies, the South Sudan health care system, and the health-related programs of other donors.
· Demonstrated youth development and/or sexual reproductive health experience.
· Experience in HIV/AIDS testing, care, and/or treatment preferred. State-of-the-art knowledge of literature and current and emerging research on HIV and youth.
· Demonstrated skills in data analysis, program design, strategic planning, program coordination and/or implementation, especially within a developing country context.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across cross-culturally with diverse teams.
· Excellent judgment, maturity, creativity and problem-solving skills.
· Fluency in English language. Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
· Experience of working with USAID funded projects is an advantage.
· Experience in resource challenged environments.
