Tearfund is hiring an experienced Safety & Staff Welfare Manager, who will be 50% of the time working for the South Sudan programme and 50% of the time working as Regional Security Coordinator for the East and Central Africa region (Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC and CAR). The post will be based in Juba, South Sudan, with extensive travel to the other ECA countries.

Do you want to use your skills to develop and ensure the systematic application of safety management policies and procedures across all of Tearfund’s operational areas in the East and Central African Region, with a specific focus and being based from Juba, South Sudan? Are you driven to building capacity and motivation of teams around security analysis and management as appropriate across roles? As the Safety & Staff Welfare Manager you will maintain relationships with the global International Safety and Security Team, provide and update training of staff in the region and countries, and be the focal point for provision of support during critical incidents in any of the East and Central Africa countries.
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in Safety and Staff Welfare management and have the ability to give strong advise in highly insecure regions. You like to promote a positive culture of effective Safety and Staff welfare. You are able to organize trainings and provide advice to key decision-makers and staff member. You will have proven experience in conducting assessments, developing and reviewing safety and security plans, as well as handling security incidents and investigating them. You are an excellent communicator and have proven experience of external representation and engagement. Your English language skills are excellent, and preferably you have a working knowledge in French. Last but not least, you have an excellent understanding of security management in INGO’s, and proven experience working within the non profit sector.
