Supporting Soil Health Interventions in Ethiopia persons
The project- Supporting Soil Health Interventions in Ethiopia – supports the Agricultural Extension Directorate (AED) of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) in implementing priority activities identified in the National Agricultural Extension Strategy, mainly focusing on the Farmers-Extension-Research-Data (FRED). The project has facilitated a study that assessed the current FRED system, which has recommended interventions to improve the system. Currently, planning is underway for the implementation of interventions recommended for the Strengthening or development and piloting of the improved FRED linkage mechanism.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to the coordination and implementation of activities aiming at the establishment of improved FRED mechanism, plot testing of the roadmap developed through the assessment conducted by a consulting firm and validated by stakeholders.
- Plan and organize multi-stakeholder workshops and meetings and ensure documentation of their outputs and action points
- Follows up with the implementation of action points coming out of stakeholder consultations
- Lead and coordinate the preparation of reports, promotional and other documents, including key lessons and challenges related to the piloting of the improved FRED linkage mechanism
- Closely interact and work with the SSHI and ISFM project staff
- Perform other assignments as required
- Oversee and coordinate the implementation of activities toward the development and testing of the FRED mechanism
- Contribute to the development of innovative implementation approaches and new project ideas
- Contribute to the project’s planning, M&E, human capacity development (training), reporting
- Closely interact and work with the AED/ MoA
- Perform other assignments as required
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Professional experience
- MSc in Agricultural Extension, Social Science, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or related fields
- At least 5 years of professional experience (in a similar position) in the areas of Agricultural Extension and Gender, Participatory agricultural extension and policy research and development, or other relevant topics.
- Experience in working on institutional linkages and collaborations with the Ministry of Agriculture and its stakeholders, Federal and Regional Research systems, regional bureaus of Agriculture and other nongovernmental and private-sector research and development actors and with the farming communities
Other knowledge, additional competencies
- Excellent English language skills, both written and oral
- Proven ability to produce high-quality reports and documents, including publications
- Excellent knowledge of standard computer applications, especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience in workshop facilitation and multi-stakeholders’ engagements
- Excellent communication and presentation skills targeting different audiences
- Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under tight schedules
