The AIDS Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) is a Durban-based NGO that acts as an interface between Donors and Community Based Organisations (CBO’s) working in the HIV/AIDS sector by placing donor funds with strategically selected CBOs, in South Africa, and providing them with ongoing, technical support & capacity building.
AFSA seeks to appoint Monitoring and Evaluation Officer on a fixed term contract until March 2018. This position will be based at its offices in Durban, KZN, but will support sites throughout KZN. AFSA requires that applicants have a degree or a diploma in Data management, Development studies, Health sciences or related studies. Applicants are also required to have at least two years M&E and/or data management experience in public health or community development sector. Advanced MS Excel/Access skills are required. Due to the nature of the work, candidates need to have good English report writing and editorial skills. A valid driver’s license (older than 2 years) and ability to drive throughout KwaZulu-Natal is essential.
The successful candidate will be required to develop data collection tools, monitoring and evaluation tools and frameworks; track the successful use and implementation of these tools, perform a quality assurance function in terms of all data collected and analysed; train and mentor personnel on the application of M&E instruments; prepare TOR for evaluation; monitor compliance of sub-grantees with relevant contractual requirements; co-ordinate any evaluation/validation of external data collection and documentation, ensure integrity of project records and data. Support improvement activities undertaken by partner CBOs. Conduct desktop research. Write regular reports.
