A day in the life of a Food Assistance Program Manager in South Sudan:

In the role of Food Assistance Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Manage day-to-day program implementation and support emergency food distributions with oversight of food storage, transport, and distribution
  • Ensure that the program objectives are delivered on time and on budget
  • Develop and implement a detailed procurement plan for all required food assistance materials well in advance with Nutrition/Food Security/Livelihood Technical Leads and Logistics Manager
  • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional or spiritual concerns of supervised staff to appropriate personnel
  • Liaise with the donor, in conjunction with the Grants Manager and Deputy Country Director, to develop program plans and resolve ongoing issues.
  • Ensure the program team has a clear understanding of the food security and nutrition situation in the area of operation
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong understanding of humanitarian food assistance programs.
  • Bachelors degree and two (2) to three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working in complex areas, particularly in Africa.
  • Capacity to write, develop and manage WFP grants/budgets.
  • Able to communicate diplomatically with other NGO, governmental, and community partners.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing environment.
  • Culturally sensitive and respectful of church leaders from all denominations
  • 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, opportunity to meet and complete requirement is available upon hire.

Accompaniment: Unaccompanied

Travel Expectations: Regular travel to field sites in the area for distributions; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
